So it's September now, eh? Not unexpected but Rats! I've seen releases get pushed back several times, taking a LONG time (Think Venom GPV-1 bike) so hope that is not the case here. Chris REC (stands for "Really, Everything's Cancelled!" )
I was genuinely confused about the wheel sizes when I asked that question. To that point I'm still not sure about them w/o seeing a good picture. Hell, im still looking for a good alloy wing since I dont care for those oversized thorp ones on ebay.
I'm thinking about rebuilding my gold metal shelfer (in my gallery) with one of these re-re chassis, does that chuff anybody's feathers? Figured since my car had all the atlas aluminum on it, there was no real reason to adhere to an original chassis requirement. I want to do the REC aluminum trans (anodized gold) but since I built that projec twith an A-stamp I'd have to drill the chassis. Plus the darker orange anno of the re-re would match the See's wheels I had anno'd pretty nicely.
toyranosaur wrote:MmmKay, so, Websteve, I am a bit unclear on wheel sizes: The new ones will indeed be the exact same sizes as the originals? Sorry to be thick! but I must be sure if I'm to continue protos of the Aluminums, would hate to waste the time developing the wrong thing! Chris REC
Just wait til they're out. That's the safest thing to do!
I wrote up a list of differences between the old and new RC10 parts. I'm running it by the engineer in charge to double-check. I'm hoping I'll be able to post it here when approved.
Those of you who have already spotted differences by the photos alone can post your observations here and I'll add them to my list if they're missing.
I can already say that all plastic left- and right-handed parts have an "L" or "R" molded in, where the original RC10 did not. This is not apparent in the photos (the other side is shown).

WebSteve, I'm not sure what your position is within Associated Electrics, but I want to sincerely thank you for spending time with your customers here on rc10talk

Wish they would have made them in the good ol USA !!
x2 ... I would have ordered one if they were made in the USA like the originals.
TT owns Associated, so my guess is the US wasn't an option. Consider how many factories of all shapes and sizes have disappeared within the US borders, namely general manufacturing. Now tell me how many are available for contract jobs. In 84' you could have thrown a rock from Associated HQ and found a supplier, and manufacturer; good luck finding one in the state that fits all the parameters, and that can access and dispose of the chemicals required to make the parts (for example).
I think in today's global economy, buying domestic only is inherently in-viable considering the position (we've) allowed ourselves to get into- Unless your in agriculture

and according to cliff lett's interview, the idlers will be more round rather than the "egg shape" units from the past. i wonder how well the tranny will spin with a little work and bearings? can't wait.

So, back long ago when I was in middle school and bashing around with my RC10 CE and regularly reading RC Car Action, I seem to remember a how-to published on how to modify the 6-gear transmission in order to reduce internal friction. I don't really...

here it is:
you can do it two ways, running a spacer inside the outdrive where the inner non flanged bearing went, or with a sleeve on the outside of the outdrive behind the 3/8 x 5/8 bearing.
Hi guys. Here is my Team Associated World's Car re-release. I completed the build last year (Sept. 2016). Some of you might remember seeing it. I haven't done anything to it since then, and it has only been driven a couple times. It was a really fun...

Savox can be loud, I almost always use the same model, some make noise and others not a peep. Go figure. I saw a review online that showed Turnigy 1258 is basically identical but around $40. I may try one.
do they give full PDF archives with pictures or just rsandom pages?
