I only hope that the chassis has a hole drilled in the side to set the servo, that way it will match all my other RC10's

Here's to hoping the trans gears come de-burred. It was fun trying to make the tops and outdrives mesh with my steel idlers. I am really curious to see what changes they made to the gearbox, my 6 gear is currently disassembled to replace the bearings that came apart.

. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

These bearings are wrong for a 6 gear RC10. There are about 10 million 3/16 x 5/16 bearings in the buggy, some flanged some not.KrackerG wrote: LXNRD7 Panther Bearings 3/16x3/8" (10) 9.49
3/16 x 3/8 were for later RC10's (stealth cars)
Edit - I even got the bearing size wrong

We are all speculating but if they are true to original you need 3/16x5/16 flanged for front and 1/4x3/8 flanged for rear wheels.KrackerG wrote:Awesome! ...i just pre-ordered mine from towerhobbies:

The original 6 gear uses 2 of the 3/16x5/16 unflanged, 5 3/16x5/16 flanged, and a single 1/4x3/8 flanged

Since everyone's struggling on what to call it, I'm curious why AE didn't name it the RC10B1.1 ???

Agreed. Associated is in a really good position here, in my opinion. They have been able to stand by the sidelines and watch the right and wrong things Tamiya has done on their re-releases (as well as the buyers reactions). They also benefit from a much smaller library of legendary vintage kits, which is somewhat beneficial. Being a smaller company, I would love them to slowly rerelease all the vintage models that were famous/important we all love, with tight control over every little aspect of the model, making it as authentic as possible (with the small necessary changes to accompany modern electronics).Coelacanth wrote:If AE is smart, they will have been watching the comments & criticisms of the Tamiya re-re's and will probably tailor their own re-re accordingly. Obviously they noticed the money Tamiya's making and the resurgence in popularity of the re-re kits, but also hopefully have paid attention to the complaints about the re-re kits changing several parts, which has disappointed some of the purists.
But, for the love of god, don't do another rerelease without bearings. That's just plain wrong...
Re: Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?
Bearing kits used to cost $50 (if I remember right) 20+ years ago, and now you can get them for about 10 bucks (which is $5 factoring for inflation). Why is this so painful?Timmy2Tracks wrote: But, for the love of god, don't do another rerelease without bearings. That's just plain wrong...

The cheap Chinese bearing are terrible in comparison to good quality bearings.
I'll probably use the cheap ones in mine but they'll suit the purpose.

Re: Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?
Including cheap Chinese bearings is much better than bushings. If the buyer wants to run high quality bearings, than switch them out. It's just annoying that I have to go make a separate order a set, and pay for shipping for them on top of it, before I can build the kit...
NMB was the bomb. I remember when I got my first RC, The Monster Beetle, I couldn't afford the bearings with my paper route job. They were expensive back then...
