Spektrum DX3S / 3300T range questions
Just wondering - why does the range on these kind of suck? I read up on some other forums about this and it seems to be related to the antenna. But the antenna isn't any shorter than others like my Flysky receivers - and those are awesome. But my Spektrum has about the same range as my old Futaba 75mhz AM radio. Maybe not even that good.
I did modify one of my receivers with a longer antenna and that helped a bit but not much. Just can't understand why the Flysky radio is SO much better for range.
I saw one guy who made a dipole antenna for his to resolve the range issues.

Dx3s 620 feet. This is the range from a comparison shootout from another site.it was the lowest of 5 transmitters.. this is in ideal conditions also.. what do you think your range is?

Re: Spektrum DX3S / 3300T range questions
I wish I could answer your questions, I have two Ten-T's with the telemetry and I have zero issues with the DX3S radio and the 3300T's/
I also use many of the SR200, 300's, 3100 series receivers and have no problems with them. Range is great, I can easily go end to end on a soccer/baseball field and farther with no glitches.
It can get far enough away that there is no point as I can't see it in detail anymore. I guess there would be no harm in trying to extend the antenna with some thin gauge wire and see if that helps.
IF not, it is easily reversed.

Re: Spektrum DX3S / 3300T range questions
I'm guessing that my range is about what you guys have said so it isn't terrible. Its just not quite as good as the Flysky that I mentioned. With the Flysky (and even my old AM radio), I can go to the end of my street and turn around with no problems. With the Spek, it sometimes glitches and I have to get closer before I regain control.
My guess is that with the wireless routers being on 2.4 ghz, there is lots of interference. But it still doesn't explain why the 2.4 Flysky is so much better.
I think I will try just extending the antanna and see what happens.

Re: Spektrum DX3S / 3300T range questions
I'd try and re bind the controller to the receiver. One day my range was horrible and glitching and that solved the problem. Other than that, I have great range with both my Dx2S and DX3R.

Interesting - hadn't considered that rebinding might solve the problem. The only thing is that ALL my cars using the same receiver have the same issue.
I'm going to mess with the antenna and see what happens.
