Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?

limited edition or not, bearings or not... the big news here is the enthusiasts that are responsible to get the ball rolling on this release did so because they most likely have a love for the old buggy and want to celebrate its heritage. thats pretty damn cool... and if this preorder thing goes through the roof and thunder tiger sees a huge opportunity in recreating the rc10 series in limited edition kits and the remanufacturing of all the parts needed to enjoy them, thats freaking killer.
this is what i want to see happen:
- associated makes however many limited 6001 kits to satisfy pre-orders, and stocks all the hobby shops with parts for a long time.
- associated continues limited edition kits of later product releases, and starts making all the parts again.
then who knows... maybe rpm, mip, etc will start making parts again.[/quote]
You've pretty much summed up what I'm hoping for. Stock the shops with parts for a LONG TIME. Then continue to make kits of later products released and parts. I'd like to see some stealth graphite cars again, I haven't had one of those in a very long time.

Anyone with a connection ask whether or not the re-re Stealth trans will be tweaked like the 6-gear trans is?
I wouldn't like to see anything changed on the Stealth other than it coming stock with a B4 slipper.

Re: Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?
Very well said. Since I rediscovered RC only a few years ago and found this great site, one of the great discussions has been the "what if" scenario like this. Now it's actually going to happen and the complaints are laughable. LAUGHABLE.badhoopty wrote:this topic has come up countless times over the years and it was always easily dismissed due to the assumption that it wouldnt make associated or thundertiger any profit. that it was too much work and too much investment to recreate all the tooling for everything, etc...
now that its really happening, why question it?
for the first time in 20 some years you can buy what you couldnt afford when you were a kid, and you can tear that box open like a kid, build it like a kid, run it like a kid, break it like a kid... shameless, guilt-free enjoyment of something that was designed to be built and raced and jumped and dirty and broken is a beautiful thing.

I guess some folks will always have to see the glass as half empty. When the preorder concludes and Associated says "that was fun, but it was our one test of the re-release market, back to modern RC vehicles" the complainers will start up anew;

One thing this re-release of the RC10 has done is bring back badhoopty out of the mud and back onto 10talk after god knows how long. Wonders never cease!

Re: Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?
I ordered mine from Tower, today. Stoked! Was going to wait to see pics until I started seeing this very limited run business. Now, I wonder, should I run the re-re?
I bet I do!
There's some talk about a re-re stealth tranny that keeps popping up. Has that been confirmed at all? So cool if it has.

Regarding the "pre-order":
Is there anything we must do differently than a normal
"back order" purchase through Tower Hobbies???

I just place the order. It goes into back order until it is in stock, than they charge you and ship it out. I also got the $25 towards $200 or more purchased.
