You can bet your butt that the first shipment is already on the slow boat from China if these are to be available by August. You can also bet that TT/AE is not going to put a limit on how many they are going to sell. That would be bassackwards, but stranger things have happened.

I really hope they decide to sell more than just 2000! I pre-ordered through tower but would be nice to pick a couple more later down the road.

Would be nice to see 'actual' pictures of exactly what is being sold.

A limited edition of 2000 for the first car makes sense and will give them an idea of how successful it will be. Nothing to stop them producing more as non limited with little tweaks, example change the box art, no certificate, change a few bits like different wheels or body and you have a totally different car, without the outlay of needing different parts been tooled up.
I hope its a good move for them and wish them all the success deserved. Personally I'd like to see a Worlds version, but hopefully if its goes in timeline it won't take another 10 years to see it evolve

Sounds plausible enough but who knows? The way I see it is if you really want one and have the available funds then why take the risk?kink wrote: Besided this talk of "Limited" does not convince me. I suspect what they are doing is taking pre-orders to then guesstimate how many to actually make in batch 1. After that is satisfied you can bet they will be making batch 2, 3 etc. They are a business. Hype like this simply helps to sell them. It works as you are buying multiples at a time due to panic.
The only other explanation I can think of is, since they have said that there will be full parts back-up then maybe only about 20% of the run is going into actual kits and the rest will be spares so that the whole vintage scene can be revived.
Another UK seller here is stating the 2000 limit. See at the bottom of the page... http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/index.php/race-models/race-off-road-electric/team-associated-cml-centro/as6001-team-associated-rc10-classic-limited-edition-pre-order.html

maybe they'll do 2000 this batch, then do some more with a stealth like a CE?

I gotta agree, that seems like a lame place to cheap out. A full set of bearings would add what--merely $15, $20 to the price?longboardnj wrote:Oilite bushings throughout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If a wide armed stealth kit comes along be it CE, Team or Worlds I honestly can't see me ever buying another modern kit, I'll be happy racing anyone of the above from now on

Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

Re: Intriguing ad in RC Car Action - RC10 re-release?
this topic has come up countless times over the years and it was always easily dismissed due to the assumption that it wouldnt make associated or thundertiger any profit. that it was too much work and too much investment to recreate all the tooling for everything, etc...
now that its really happening, why question it?
for the first time in 20 some years you can buy what you couldnt afford when you were a kid, and you can tear that box open like a kid, build it like a kid, run it like a kid, break it like a kid... shameless, guilt-free enjoyment of something that was designed to be built and raced and jumped and dirty and broken is a beautiful thing.
limited edition or not, bearings or not... the big news here is the enthusiasts that are responsible to get the ball rolling on this release did so because they most likely have a love for the old buggy and want to celebrate its heritage. thats pretty damn cool... and if this preorder thing goes through the roof and thunder tiger sees a huge opportunity in recreating the rc10 series in limited edition kits and the remanufacturing of all the parts needed to enjoy them, thats freaking killer.
this is what i want to see happen:
- associated makes however many limited 6001 kits to satisfy pre-orders, and stocks all the hobby shops with parts for a long time.
- associated continues limited edition kits of later product releases, and starts making all the parts again.
then who knows... maybe rpm, mip, etc will start making parts again.
