Body options

Post by kink »

I am toying with the idea of either using a Jammin Jay or the original RC10 body (what is that body called anyway?) on my 1994 RC10. I quite fancy a simple clean paint job, but with some details added. Perhaps lights, real window mesh, driver, etc. Basically some proper old school modelling.

I am thinking of having no body behind the rear shock tower, so may need to see how it looks. I have a repro JJ here which I can cut up to check fitment etc.

Alternatively are there any bodies from other models which may fit? How about an Optima Turbo (not mid), or Optima Pro (what a beauty!) Or would that melt some of your minds?

What are the options for sourcing the RC10 bodies, aside from the obvious TBG Ebay route?

Original body is called a protech... Its still avalable as well as the Viper body. AE still produces both. They are a little different than the originals from back in the day since Thunder Tiger is producing them, but essentially the same thing.

as far as AE bodies go, its either that or TBG... I have been waiting to see if anyone tries other bodies and posts it up here,

The tbg parma chenowith is a pretty cool body if you want something not mainstream

^^^^ Now I really like the looks of those. The Chenowith looks really good without the wing. Never seen that one before.

Weren't both of those bodies designed for the RC10? The Chenowth body was made by Parma in the 80's. The other one looks like a Losi body.

I really love the JJ as it is rather plain and simple.

The Chenowith has a great rear section, but the detailing around the side windows is a little fussy. Unless I cut the windows out?

I'd love one of the Kyosho guys to see if an Optima Pro body would fit an RC10!
