kyosho pegasus

so I'm completely new to older r/c and I have this pegasus and I'm trying to find info on it and possible value too, I'ts got a really old looking esc that involves a servo moving a metal arm across a metal tube, and the battery looks like it's backwards? it's in good shape, just wondering about the info and value. many thanks

its all good thats a pretty cool car though ive actually never seen one i say restore it and run it unless your wanting something else then i would check ebay and see what they go for...

There are some parts available for these on ebay. Interesting model, to the right collecter, it might be worth something . Just so you are aware two other Kyosho models shared this basic chassis. There were some color variations, and different bodies. The Icarus, and Cosmo, are essentially the same car. Personally, I like the look of the Cosmo the best. Honestly, don't think that any RC car is an ïnvestment" that will pay big dividends. Your better off with the lottery. Either clean it up and display it for posterity, or fix it up and RUN IT!

There was a NIB one on eBay for $140 shipped that was relisted like 10 times due to apparent lack of interest which is a shame.

lol ten times? wouldn't ever thinkin of selling something that high price, but could someone tell me a little info about the esc thing, I've seen pics but honestly it's a first for me and having one, and possibly why the connectors are backwards?

also I don't want to sell it for big bucks but because I need some cash for car insurance, and I figured that other would be able to treat it better and do something good with it compare to me having it in a shed for eternity lol

you won't get a lot more than, well, not much not a very demanded car. Was also sold as Cox Bandido in the US, which is much easier to come around. This was as entry-level as it got back then in the mid-80's, its value today is pretty low, do a "completed items" search for ebay and judge for yourself

That's why it's call a Msc - M for Mechanical... as opposed to E for Electronic

Frankly - clean it and run it, to appreciate how far the industry has come around in 15 yrs!!!

I'm looking at picking up a Pegasus , it's had a terrible paint job, but looks to be unmolested, what can I say I love them kyosho's. Cant help it.

I once mistakenly bought a set of new front tires for these. The worst I've ever had: really hard rubber and so narrow, good for a dragster at best.

Put it this way: between two members here, I was given enough parts to build one of these. They're not worth much money-wise.

BUT... they're surprisingly fun runners. Lightweight, so plenty quick with a stock motor, handles way better than any Hornet ever did, and tail-happy on loose surfaces. Upgrade the electronics, put ball bearings in it, and go have fun.

they are both, in build and use, pretty similar to the Tamiya Falcon.
The wheel axle in front of the steering kingpin is the weirdest thing aside of those skinny tires

I own a Cox Bandido and its a carbon copy of the Pegasus. I've used mine on the beach and it really works well. I highly doubt these cars will hold up anywhere else as I think the standard car is a little brittle. Nothing more so than the rear stub axle. I have busted two of these simply by tightening it up with a Tamiya box wrench.
Great fun out on the sand even with those crazy cheese cutter front tyres.
