Losi Double X & JRX Prototype in three days
I have scored two XX cars in the last three days. Prior to this I was not really aware of any of the Losi models other than the JRX2 and the current models of cars that are being ran by friends of mine. What I have learned on these models has been from reading the forum here recently. Apparently the XX is a favorite of many.
The XXCR was given to me by a good friend of mine. This car was raced back in the day and later on ran in the street by he and his Sons. It shows this later use but Free is hard to argue with. The other car I picked up for $30 on Craigslist. It is complete minus the radio but of course will need to be gone through and the battery tossed. This car appears to have been raced and spent little time with the tractor pull rubber on the back. As I am still learning about these cars I would like to hear from the experts here on what I have what kind of candidates I have here for vintage racing.
Pictures to follow.

Re: Two Losi Double XX cars in three days
Welcome to rc10talk the home of the losi xx
Loads of info on here and manuals available at vintagelosi.com also a member here. I need pics with the shells off and a closer shot of the front end of the purple car.
A bunch of us could talk xx for hours, what would assist us in helping you is specific questions you may have.
Cheers

Hi,
Thanks for the interest here. I have a "set" of photos taken but had some issues getting them attached. Doing a little research on the board to see what is the best way to post the pics in a size that is acceptable.

Re: Two Losi Double XX cars in three days
Mark,
One of them is certainly a XX but the other appears to be a bit of a mix of XX and JRX-2 - still, not a bad score for $30!!!
Looks like a strip down, clean and re-build is required. The owner/instruction manuals are available on-line over at http://www.vintagelosi.com and most parts can still be found by searching eBay - http://www.oldrc.com is very useful as well.
Now the fun begins....!

Yes, that jrx2 chassis looks to be something that could be a prototype. You may have something special there in that car.

Re: Two Losi Double XX cars in three days
Interesting.
The car was actually listed as a "Team Losi Lunsford Punisher."
The decals say this as well. I just assumed that he put the decal information in the ad to identify it.
This halts any plans to bother anything on the car until we figure this out. Well.. other than some correct rear rolling stock.

You have my interest, I dont think this is a thown together car by some kid in his garage. the shock tower had my interest last night with the one pic you had up.
-look to be whats left of a litesink motor plate
- front and rear shock towers took interesting
- I dont recognize the body with the air dams near the rear tower?? anybody?
- gold front shocks arent that common, but are around....
- slider half shafts
-h-arm rear suspension from JRXpro
-RPM gear cover and front bumper
On a funnier note why did he even bother with a gear cover with holes like that in the motor plate

I think you need to take the battery out and take the gear cover off and get some close pictures of stuff.

Re: Two Losi Double XX cars in three days
I did ask about this for my reliable source before getting deeply in to my project. He's answer shortened was this: "Holes were covered with tape. I think we were using decals to cover the holes in the motor plates..."TheSpeedway wrote:Right! The chassis seems to be LWB chassis that was cutted so that Jrx2 body would fit nicely to it = curves were made to both sides of the servo. But really interesting thing with the chassis is that it seems to be missing the four holes for original battery holder (at least two of them should be still there on both sides of the battery) and also the hole for antenna mount could be a little too front compared to stock chassis. So the chassis must also be special chassis from factory.

Very interesting car!
Is there a driver's name on the purple area right in front of the side window? My eyes can't make out the words.
