New Guy GTX

Post by CGMike »

Hello! I found this forum while looking for info and parts for my Losi GTX. Quick story about the truck. I bought it brand new in 1996. I had read about them coming out soon and at the time was driving a RC10T electric truck with a green motor, a novak rooster, and full bearing conversion. I went to Discount Hobbies (I think) in Clairemont Mesa, CA (the one witht the outside dirt track, I used to race there all the time) and asked if I could order the GTX. Aparently that was not the way it worked and I had to show up when they pulled them off the truck. I arrived on a Tuesday (I believe) before they opened and waited for the delivery truck to get there. My friend and I bought 2 of the 3 that came in. We were one of the first people to get them. Every track I took it to, people had never seen it before.
Well I was getting old enough to buy a real car and the RC car was put on the back burner. It sat in storage from about 2000 until 2007 when I took it out and fired it up, then broke it. Then it sat from 2007 until recently. I got it running again and broke the front bulkhead (replacement is on the way). Im excited to drive this thing again and have some fun with it. Sorry for the long post. After I get it fixed, Ill post some pictures. I think I still have the original receipt somewhere. I still have the box (its a little beat), manual, and video that came with it.

Welcome!

If you have the capability it would be great to get that old VHS video posted on youtube. I would love to get a link for the video posted on the vintagelosi.com site.

Welcome Mike. Your story is like most of ours, at least me anyway. Life gets in the way, so we end up putting our toys away. Then later knock the dust off of them and get them back running. I had a jrxt in the early 90's and tried to race it. Not to well though, mainly due to the driver. Went carpet racing instead. Did a little better there.

I would have no idea on how to get it on to my computer. I dont even own a VCR. haha. Maybe I can take it somewhere and transfer it to DVD/CD then put it on my computer? Ill see what I can find out. Now I just need to get some parts for my car. Anyone have any leads on a transmission case, mine has a small crack in it. Thanks for the welcomes! Im excited to drive this thing again. My Airtonics XL2P is giving me a little bit of grief, so I have bid on one on ebay. I have a feeling this isnt going to be as cheap to get back into as I want. haha
