Cool vintage car radio. Simprop Car Profi

Here is my vintage Simprop radio, made in Germany. Originally this was a 40mHz FM version, as per the box, but when I got it the HF module inside was missing. I've only been able to find a 35mHz unit so far. I think that's a frequency only to be used for r/c airplanes here in Holland, so keeping my eyes open for a 40mHz module. And the matching receiver.
I just love the looks of this radio. Brandnew in the box! This will stay forever.

Here's the inside, with the HF module visible. The crystal is inserted into this module.

If you look closely you can see the SG logo on the left side of the face of the transmitter. SG ofcourse is the company from Bologna in Italy that produced mainly 1/8th scale on-road racing cars, from the early 70's well into the 90's. They also produced the 1:10 scale electric Buggy, the Coyote.
SG must have commissioned this radioset by Simprop. I'm not sure exactly what the deal was....

Very nice to see this three channel stick! I used to have one back in the eighties and it was more or less the most costly radio you could buy. Not a good reason to get it, but it was the only race radio with sticks we could get here in Norway. I also had a crazy project connecting the middle wheel (the third channel - for you who haven't used this one) to a servo operating the wing for regulation of down force - disaster Later I got the hang of the wheels and switched to Futaba Magnum in various models. Unfortunately I sold this radio in the early nineties together with a MRC Rabbit...

Very nice Simprop transmitter and super rare, especially new in box.
My favourite vintage transmitter. Now I know who grabbed it.
I also was after this one but went too high.
Got an used one some time ago, mine has the HF module but the bottom cover is missing.

This transmitter was developed together with the SG factory team and was used by a lot of drivers in Italy, also other European countries.
Yes it was very expensive but also one of the first, if not the first radio made specially for car racing. I have not seen other transmitters before using seperate adjusters for left/right or throttle/brake or something as servo reverse.

BTW SG was making a lot of stuff, not only 1/8 onroad. Also 1/10 and 1/12 electric and 1/8 offroad, also they had a lot of bodies any scale.

Just found this topic again

Got another Simprop Car Profi radio now, which seems unused.
Missing the box but otherwise it´s complete. And the 27 MHz version this time.
Came also with the original receiver battery and switch harness.
Missing were the special waterproof Car Profi servos but these did show up now also.

BTW there were different antennas for 27 and 40 MHz.

Very cool! It appears to be of very high manufacturing quality. I had one of the very early Futaba wheel transmitters. It was very nice, too, but seemed a bit like a kit. The Simprop appears to be very well designed and built.

Simprop radios always have had a very good reputation in R/C flight competition. But they were also some of the most expensive.

The Car Profi was the very first radio to use functions as dual rate and servo reverse in car control radios.
BTW this radio was developed along with Team SG of Italy.
