RC10 World's Car - New In Box
My buddy at the LHS called me this weekend saying some guy wanted to sell his old RC10 - "yawn", I thought... another rusted, bent, swiss-cheesed and dyed pink old beater. Then he said, "it's still new in the box, it says '93-'94 World's Car... and he has all the electronics too."
That got my attention, so I went straight to the shop (I live 10 minutes away).
The guy wanted $200, no deals, or he was gonna put it on eBay Monday morning.
So here's what I got for $200:
(everything is Brand New)
JR PROPO - 75MHz PCM transmitter Warlock stock motor
Novak Rooster Reversible ESC
MIP CVD's and Ball Bearing steering
Tecnacraft turnbuckles with gray RPM ball cups and the RC10 World's Car: I will probably build this one some day;
I have a ton of other projects I want to finish first though.

Wow what luck, with Tecnacrafts even
Glad to hear you got it before ebay, it just would've broken up to sell part by part

Did you tell the guy what he could have gotten for it had gone to ebay after you gave him the cash?

I always love hearing the back story on these finds! How come the guy had this sitting on his shelf for so many years? Why didn't he build it back when he got it?

Nah, I played innocentcall-911 wrote:Did you tell the guy what he could have gotten for it had gone to ebay after you gave him the cash?

Nobody in the shop really knew what it was, most of them were more impressed with the Novak Rooster than the actual World's Car - even my buddy that called me (who is somewhat familiar with gold pans) was like "uh, some sort of RC10... it says '93-'94 World's Car..."
The guy was more into R/C airplanes... He did confirm that he, himself bought the World's Car and had stored it all these years - I didn't pry more than that.orangemazda wrote:I always love hearing the back story on these finds! Apparently he uses eBay a lot for airplane stuff, so he knew that "World's" made it more valuable [i.e. $200, firm], but he did not know that some of us build churches in which to worship the "World's Car".

Good for you!
What I have seen is people with an old MIB rare kit that they got in a garage sale, or from a neighbor, family or friend. Turn around build it, trash it, come in to the shop looking for nonexistent parts! Seen it about four or five times in thirteen years working at a hobby shop! I cry!!!!
I could have traded a Rustler or Slash or SC10, If only they came in first!
I did get one new 10l for $70 and a MIB FTT3 for very little but nothing beats that Worlds deal!
