This is a gear diff right? The two outer halves spread under load, and it pulls the internal diff gears away from the center gear ring enough to slip and crunch. Nothing you can do other than limit your rear shocks so you don't have as much bind

so, what happens is when your suspension compresses on the wheel that in on the Outside of the arc of your turn the that wheel is "loaded" with force (a) and the wheel on the inside of the arc is then unloaded or force is removed (b). What happens is that the "male" portion of the drive bone (a) is torqued and applies an upward pressure on the transmission outdrive on side (a) and the unloaded side (b) is torqued in the opposite manner so that the force from unloading is transferred into the outdrive of (b) with downward pressure (generally). When this happens with and AE RTR gear diff the outdrive portion that is bolted to the main gear deflects and the cluster gears are allowed to have more play then they are supposed to....so it makes a crunching sound as the gears mesh poorly and or slip with throttle application.
They all do this (AE gear diffs) you can swap to the ball diff and never hear it again-
limit the rear down travel of the shocks and it won't happen as much because your decreasing the angle of the dogbone thus decreasing the forces applied to the cups-

Charlie don't surf, thanks for that informative post. I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. I have heard the crunching noise that you speak of, man it don't sound normal but if you say so I will go with it. The truck just does not have any pull. Meaning that it doesn't take much to hold it still if you hit the throttle. I have ripped it apart again and I just can't find anything. Here are some pics of the spur gear and the diff.


Do you see anything wrong with those parts? Lets say there is not and it has all been properly installed. If it still does it where should I look?
I know this is not the Revo or the Monster GT I once owned but it should still have some at least a little power when a little resistance is felt. Gonna try it again.

I would be inclined to agree with Reggie and say that if you pick up a ball diff you won't hear that noise again.
The only part that I see that might be an issue is one of your cluster gears, the one on the left looks like the teeth are a lil bit rounded on the outer edge of it. Your slipper pads look good as they should since they are relatively new.
you'll see plenty of power out of this truck. Will make speeds that made your monster gt seem like it was standing still. Once you get this up and going you'll be happy with electric. A ball diff is so much better than any gear diff out there.
Got a dumb question also...your pins are good inside your drive wheels or you don't have a stripped wheel do you? I messed with slipper and clutch shoes and a whole lotta pissin around with my first gt to find out I had a pin break in half and strip out a wheel drive

Thanks Klavy69, I appreciate the response...I really do. I am trying to learn this electric thing as all I use to have was nitro.
I put it all back together again. I set the slipper clutch like the manual says to. The thing ran like a scalded dog! I mean it was fast! Ran it hard, nothing crazy but like I would run if I was racing. I do hear that grinding noise, thanks for telling me about that because I was very worried about this. That sounds horrible but it is exactl as it was described earlier, that has to be it. Anyway, I ran hard on a full battery, I didn't time it but it might have been 15-18 minutes with no issues.
Then all of a sudden when you give it throttle the truck does not have the take off that it had had just a minute ago. It makes a horrible squealing noise and it sounds as if it is stripped out again. Is this what someone said earlier, a dis charged battery? I do not have a fresh charged battery to run it again, I only have one. I won't be able to run again until Sunday when I get home from work. What do you think?

To the OP- check your rear hub carrier bearings. The inboard set seems to take quite a beating.

Thanks asr09. I will check those when I get home, I am sure that my truck is not right I just don't know what it is. It is brand new and I have really not done anything harsh to this thing. If it is that delicate I definitely have made the wrong choice and will be getting rid of it and I guess I will try something else. I was really looking forward to racing this thing but not if it is so fragile. I hope I have it all wrong.

Alright guys I am almost at the point where I quit, I don't want to but I don't know what else to do. I came home today and put a fresh battery in it and the thing is broke and I just can't figure it out. I made a video that will show you exactly what I am talking about. I ran it hard today making the noise because I would love for something obvious to break, this way you can see what I am dealing with. Is there a place to post this or can I email it to someone that would be willing to look at it?

to me it sounds like what Reggie said about the gear diffs.
You'll find that this truck isn't as fragile as your frustration is telling you.

Meaning that the gear diffs grind? What is occurring here should not be occurring. As you can see the truck has no power at all. I have had the diff out three times now and replaced once, the truck is brand new. Any other thoughts?
