Double sided A stamp??
Double sided A stamp??
Hi, I am new to this amazing site and it had been very helpful. Now I could use a little info in my early to mid Edinger. I recently purchased it at auction for a restoration project. My question is, I have seen many A stamps that have been stamped hard enough that they show through the bottom and some that don't. The car i purchased has a stamp on the top and bottom. Both are indented and sharp. Can anyone tell me if there is any significance to this two sided stamp? Could it just be that the worker that day was bored and thought he would try something new? I took a few pics but, couldn't get a very clear one of the bottom. Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks, and I look forward to posting updates on the build.
Re: Double sided A stamp??
It was a monday, the worker stamping the chassis was hungover from partying all weekend.
That's all, nothing special.

Edinger chassis were stamped from the bottom....once they started stamping. Later I believe it became part of the die-

easiest way for a simpleton like me to post pix here is to upload to photobucket.com and click on the img link, transfer it here and its already sized and ready to go.joeshovz wrote:Thanks..now if i could figure out how to load pics. I'll look around here and see if i can find out.

- I have to assume these are the original 7 ribs due to the very little wear on the rest of the car.

Re: Double sided A stamp??
These are pics of the Edinger I got at auction. It was pretty dirty when I picked it up but, for the most part it was in good shape. Just a simple disassemble and a lot of cleaning is all it took to get it to this point. I just found some nip parts to brighten it up, so while I'm waiting for those I might try to come up with a paint scheme. I will also be looking for box art decals if anyone one can point me in the right direction.
Thanks for looking - Joe

Nice car!
If you don't already know about it do s do a search for peroxide treatment. Your parts look pretty good already.
