If it isn't orange, is it still a Charger?

Post by GoMachV »

Tried something different, wanted a old school stock car theme for the Mcallister oval lowering kit. The chassis is a half copy of a houge, and the parts are dyed dark blue NOT black  need to see if the a&l will take dye, and also hit the rear bulkhead.

Still needs dull silver (outside) bumpers, numbers, and some stock car fender stickers.....once the paint drys!

Hell yeah, a Charger doesn't have to be Hemi Orange to still be a Charger! Frankly, I hate that color...yours looks just fine! Should look even better with stock car stickers on it. 8)

I think it's a Parma body...I have another one that I'll paint up one of these days. I just wish the detail and proportions were accurate. The Charger body that HPI makes for the monster truck chassis has a lot better detail but the wheel-wells are all wrong and the out-of-scale oversized blower doesn't help much, either.

Dangit, now I want to build a Charger... lemon yellow, though, with a black vinyl top, in honor of the '69 that belonged to my friend Chad in high school. Rode to school for a whole year in that thing...

Finally got around to almost completing this one. Dropped in a trinity pole position motor, 610rv, s148, and an old receiver. Need to finish by soldering some connectors on and will be good to go.

Also added a carbon fibre nose from an old cut up chassis. Seemed like a good fit.

That looks great nice job, I dyed my A&L parts as well, for me they took a little longer, then stock nylon, how about your self.

Yes. They took almost double time to dye. I was a bit scared they wouldn't take it but I had read they would. In the end they turned out great. Took about as long as a shock tower.

New numbers sourced, will update pics when they are Installed 8)

I wonder how wide the TBG charger is and the one that Coelacanth has.

The bolink one fits a DS perfect. Mine is translucent orange.

I was tempted to buy one of the TBG bodies but maybe it's just the perspective, but something seems a little off. Then again, the Parma body is WAY off, proportion-wise. The HPI '69 Charger body is the most proportionally accurate--with the obvious exceptions being the retardedly-large (that's a new phrase, I'll bet) wheel-wells to make it fit a monster-truck chassis and the idiotic over-sized blower. God only knows why they don't make a body intended for an on-road chassis, like they did with the 'Cuda & Challenger bodies. :?

Probably the final update here, i got a new Mcallister lowering kit from Phin so the dyed black stuff is gone! Also got some proper sized numbers now  wired up the sermons connectors, and installed a futaba connector on the 6-10rv.
