I got my vintage rc10 back together and running again. So I took it to the local track today and after several laps I seemed to be losing power then all I got was glitches when pulling the throttle.
Here's my setup.
New Futaba 3PRKA 2,4ghz transmitter/receiver.
New Speedgems Ruby motor. I think 19t.
Old Futaba ESC. FP-MC112B
3000/4600 mah NIMH batteries
My first run was with a 3000 mah NIMH battery. When it got glitchy and stopped responding I replaced the battery thinking it was low because I had been running tests with it. I replaced it with a 4600 mah NIMH. I got the same behavior. The steering seems to work fine unless I give it throttle at the same time then everything stops responding until I release the throttle. I can sometimes feather the throttle and get it to go a little but it reaches a certain point and stops responding. If I hold the car in the air it is better than if I leave it on the ground. When it starts getting glitchy the LED on my receiver starts blinking rapidly and stops once I release the throttle. The motor instructions state that it has built in capacitors to eliminate radio interference. I tried an older motor that had soldered capacitors and got the same result. Is it possible that my ESC got fried? I tried with another ESC but got the same result. Although the other one is one of those cheap $15 pieces of garbage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Worked for a short time now only glitchy
Well, it sounds like the receiver isn't getting enough power when throttle is applied, typically that means the bec circuit might be fried in the speedo. However, it could be bad batteries too. Try removing the power wire to the reciever from the speedo, and run a receiver battery see how it goes. If the same thing persists then it might be the receiver. If it works fine after running a receiver battery, then it is a good bet it is the speedo. Good luck- Jeff
Re: Worked for a short time now only glitchy
I hooked up the receiver battery and no glitches. But no power either. So I got out my third battery pack and it worked fine.
I guess it's a bad batter pack. Which is sad because it is brand new and recently charged. Although the pack is reading 7.4 volts. Could there be 1 bad cell and still give me that kind of reading?
