front wheels

Post by Boredome »

i just received my order from tower hobby and i ordered front wheels for a b4.1 thinking they would fit my rc10 but they have the hex piece in the front and no spot for the bearings to go. i thought i read some where that the b4.1 wheels fit?
by the way they are proline wheels.
what wheels do i need?

The standard wheels without the hex fit but they will narrow the front end of your buggy unless you run the wide rc10gt truck front axles.

You could do what m_vice did with his modern HPI 5-star mod on the B4.1 hex wheels.

The B4.1 hex wheels have a deeper offset than the old B4 bearing wheels, and modded to use a flanged bearing the hex wheels wouldn't narrow the front end as much.

Or you could update your front end with the AE hex set up off the B4.1

How can I do this? Seems like a good idea so I don't have to mess with every set of front wheels I get.

To do this you will need to change to B4 caster blocks, B4 steering blocks, B4 hex axles and B4 hex adaptors. Experts correct me if I am wrong. I did the change over to B4 caster, steering and regular axles but may change to hex in the future.

Ren

http://www.teamassociated.com/news/latest_products/616-B4.1_12mm_Hex_Drive/

AE part #s:

9880
7496
7497
7922 ** these are the 30 degree hubs, I remember reading you want the 25 degree hubs, but I dont remember where.

You will need the B4.1 upright hinge pins (for through the knuckles) and drill the lower arm mounting hole to 1/8" for the stock RC10 hinge pins.

Why would anyone want to do the front hex conversion? You are stuck using trailing steering. I prefer inline.
