I think its a MR4BX
gents,
I raced an 870c in the late 80's and decided to grab an updated yoke to take to the new offroad track. not really sure what i got here. looking to the experts for identification and any pertinent information in terms of maintaining this buggy. I read somewhere that they are fickle. Can anyone speak to that?
Will this thing handle a lipo set-up? Any tips on what I should use? Guessing a 3300kv motor would do it but not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: I think its a MR4BX
I owned one of these for a while but never did run it. However, I used to see a few guys race these at my local club a while back in mod and they looked to be doing well.
Pedro on this forum would be a good person to ask questions as he inspired me to get mine.
Definitely is an MR4BX

Re: I think its a MR4BX
here's pedro now
Yep it will handle the power with the belts set right tension wise but if you are running on a dirt track they are a maintainance nightmare with those exposed belts and parts i'm thinking might be hard to find, so yes it will handle the ponies but there are much easier cars out there to live with.

Re: I think its a MR4BX
When I saw Pedro move from the MR4BX on to the later BMAX I was confused. The BMAX looked far less 'specced' but after explaining the value or 'torsional flex' and how it helped the car hold the track's surface whilst cornering I was converted right away.
I'd love to own and race a BMAX now

Two years ago MR-4 BX just easy to find but even the parts hard to get now.Yes I love the BMAX4 handing but BX still looked great, my yokomo style, BMAX4 seen a little cheap.

Re: I think its a MR4BX
yeah that's a bx. looks like you got associated shocks in the rear and maybe kyosho's up front. do you have any larger photos? i'm curious to what else the buggy came with.
the bx is still a competitor at the track. it has a lot of tuning possiblities. it is a tight tank, so breaking a part within the chassis is rare. but the suspension is still fragile to hard hits and jumps. nothing new for a 4wd. bodies and undertrays are still available through ebay. some parts are hard to find. but if you order parts from japan/uk your chances of finding parts gets narrowed down easily. check out the yokomo mr4bx threads at rctech and oople. lots of great info, tips, mods, and setups. here are some setups from oople if you haven't seen them yet...

as for the lipo, i don't know if you have a set of craddles in the buggy. but if you don't check out diggity designs. they still cut craddles for the standard bx and worlds edition buggies.

Re: I think its a MR4BX
Thanks for the feedback Pedro. I'm kind of into the idea of competing with (and hopefully spanking) some modern rigs with an older yoke. I am doing some homework now on the tuning aspects. If anything else comes to mind I Am all ears.pedro wrote:here's pedro now

Re: I think its a MR4BX
I got one of these last year from a guy who just built it and never ran it. He gave me a Sh!tlo@d of spare parts for it too. It now sits on my shelf. Body still needs to be painted.
