RC10T "barn find"

Post by tommy911t »

Found this on cl Saturday. Was filthy. It was an awesome weekend spent complete tear down and restore and bleach. Did end up buying a donor truck on Sunday to complete. Spent less than half the price of a FT T4.1 and Tuesday night's race was all I need to know that I made the right decision.

After restoration with new electronics:

Restored the donor car parts and the Stealth looked too good not to display:
(Anyone recognize the motor?)

As raced on Tuesday with stock setup and pink taper pins:

Thanks and good luck saving those cars on cl from the attics!

No before pictures!!!!!!!!

I was too stoked on the drive home to get this cleaned up!

I found a gold pan a stamp the weekend before so I was in the chop shop and clean ZONE!

I've said it before, I just need a go pro on my hat at all times.

This week, Im going to try and get the donor T together to be set my brother up in 17.5 with me. That's gonna require dipping into the RC10 B Stamp CE toss outs...

Stay tuned, it's gonna be Frankensteined!

You called it on the driver. Can't live without it these days(nights) in the hobby zone.
I use the AE FT driver bits and this thing rules.
I think it was less than $40...
Do it!
Careful on assembly: Can over torque!

excellent run tommy. looks like you got the truck dialed. love the small track. looks like a blast to drive on.

are you using the stock associated pistons and springs on your truck?

Thanks.
Yes that set up is as stock as it gets with 32.5 front, 30 rear. The run in the vid is with the short wheelbase. I have since gone long and testing on that same track went great. Racing tonight to see if I can't be more consistent.
Side note: Some folks were simply astounded at the tolerances and lack of play on my truck. I've been racing the B4.1 and B44.1 for a few years and no matter what I've replaced or how I build it, it's never been as tight as the white plastic on my 10T. Fellow racers where blown away at the manufacturing quality on my truck. Some where aware of it and others had no idea rc could be so precise!
I hope stadium gains popularity, or I'm gonna have to build a 17.5 B pan buggy. Not that I wouldnt want to, it's just that Stock Stadium is just so flow and mellow!

I've purchased pretty much everything white plastic and pan in my area off craigslist over the past few months. The collection has taken over my workspace. With all that, I hope to get something started in the likes of 17.5 vintage buggy(pre xxx/b2) but not sure how to approach this idea to my scene. I'd love to make sure folks could race with some confidence that it wouldnt be an ebay battle to get a new arm or shock shaft. Kinda like a donation/vintage/spec club thing. Any words of advise? I'll search this site as well to see how folks get it going.

for buggy a pretty stock rc10ce makes a great modern racer, as well as the rc10talk OIN style.

OLD IS NEW! Thanks for the knowledge!

The truck blew minds again last night and was less than .04 off the fastest last for stock truck. Having a blast with the stock setup, probably wont change anything, just learn to drive it faster to pull what I can from her.

Now to get some repo bodies painted up and finish the second chassis!!

Thanks again for this great forum

10t's are awesome.

incase you have trouble getting a body, t2 and t3 shells fit. i use a t3 and relocated one of the rear body posts to the center of the shocktower (you only need 1 mount in the back for the t3 shell)

There is some scratching on the arms of another kit I just received and the white is showing through, but if they were dyed, they did a great job.

I am aware that they had black plastic kits just before the T2, but were they dyed, painted or truly black injected?

Pics to come, but I was wondering if AE dyed anything.
