FWIW= I had the pleasure of meeting Collective Soul and picking up their bar tab (which was mostly food) about 3 years ago in French Lick, IN. They were putting on a concert there and my wife and I were celebrating our 10yr anniversary at the West Baden Hotel where they were staying. I insisted and explained that their song "Wasting Time" had helped me thru a rough patch and probably literally changed my life forever even though it is seemingly one of the weaker tunes on a great album. Another "Strange But True" tale in my life.

That is a nice ass hotel with some vintage gangster ties! Way cool to meet Collective Soul there. Still dig their first album.

They were very gracious. I merely thanked them and wished them well. I didn't want to be some idiot that tried to become their friend or something. My only beef with their music is that it's almost too catchy. Every song has a hook. I love them in short bursts, but they get on my nerves if I listen too long. I love their music though, don't get me wrong(that should make sense on some level ) They have a generally positive message which I like also, and their lyrics actually make sense which appeals to me. A classic early 90's style video here.

I made a voyage to Cancun Mexico circa 1995 and the Macarena was huge down there(fun too ). I came home and kinda forgot about it. Maybe a year later it hit here and I remember thinking how weird it was how long it took. That was somewhat pre-internet though(at least as we know it today). I find International pop culture very interesting and hilarious.

Since Thursday night is a great night, but not quite a party night I'll simply post a great band that always seems to fly just under the radar.
