What is the benefit of using this BRP bearing crush sleeve? How does it effect the performance of a pan car?

I can't say 100%, but I would assume it's intent is to create a narrow surface for the inner bearing seal to seat against rather than being pushed against a flat block.

NO, this is not the way it install.

Actually, it is install in between the two bearings of the rims. After installed, the front rim can "flex" left & right due to there is a small end-play. I will scan the manual here later.

Well it just goes to show that as usual I'm the Wikipedia of r/c. Lots of free information... most of it wrong!

Probably just scraps from another part they machined.

If he does see this I hope he knows my comment was in jest. That's my way of bowing out when I don't know what the hell I'm talking about (which is often).

The crush sleeve is used to prevent getting preload on the bearings by allowing the race to be the only part of the bearing coming into contact with the nut or whatever the tightening method is. This allows the ball bearings to rotate freely without any preload as I mentioned before which means less friction.

Also prervents sideload during cornering which would cause more pressure and friction on the ball bearings, the bearing turns freely even while cornering.
