Though the shipping is taking a little longer than advertised the guys at JC Racing have been great a following up about the issue. Guess I just have to wait a bit longer.

FYI they are currently out of stock on the white as of 9/17/2012. Molding new white stock in 2-3 weeks.

glad you got that reference :D . Was flippin thru the channels last week and came across a David Carridine/KungFu rerun  .

My first set I ordered showed up around Christmas time last a couple years ago after a couple weeks. My last set took 4-5 weeks in the middle of summer. Didn't make any sense at the time to me but I did get them. Now If I could just keep from getting rid of them  . IIRC I dropped a message to them after awhile on the last set and they promptly replied. I believe they have overall good service...from my experience anyway. Good luck and keep us in the updates.

Well I finally got my wheels. The guys at JC Racing came through. I guess "Royal Mail" was just running a few days behind. Great service from JC Racing and who are just generally nice. The package included stickers and a hand written message on the paypal slip.

Its reads...

Cheers Timothy,

Regards from John and Colin here in the UK and well done in the olympics.

That's awesome. Thanks Guys!

Got my tires mounted last night on the new rims. The new rims work and look great. The car really looks like a racer now. No complaints save one. There is a little more slop in the steering now due to the fact that the bearings in the front tires fit looser in the new rims than the originals. Very slight though and its not nothing to do with me not getting around the track in one piece :)

Here is what I bought and there were absolutely no width or clearance issues.

Front Panther Bobcat 2WD Front Clay Buggy Tire

Rear: Panther Switch 2.0 Clay 1/10 Buggy Tire

Why panther? Well the tread design was similar enough to other treads I was looking at and they apparently subscribe to the KISS principal as do I. Yellow, white, blue, gold, green, M2, M3, MX, MC..........ZZZZzzzzz

I bought a "2WD Front Clay Buggy Tire" which is how they sell it.

I am definitely glad I went with a more narrow front tire both for style as well as overall clearance. Thanks for that advice.

Although I have nothing to compare them too, I was very impressed with the performance of these tires on my local clay track. Major improvement over last time..like a totally different car.

Had some issues on my second attempt at the track with the RC10

Steering linkage (bell crank to servo linkage) kept getting bent so I'll need to solve that and soon. Every time I got bumped or crashed my steering was different or busted.

Next upgrades will all center around steering components.

Some breakages....
- ESC, switch and capacitors all came detached from the car. Unfortunate thing is that the switch actually broke off but can still be operated. I'll need to buy a higher quality servo tape.

- due to frequent repairs to the steering the original body cracked and is now in two pieces coming apart at the rear shock tower.

- Motor slipped loose on a hard landing (yes I was hitting some jumps and landing some) and skipped the spur gear but no permanent damage was done.

Lots of comments about the old girl but most don't run because they don't want to break them. So many were sold I can't imagine this thing ever being worth that much money....?

Anyway, having run with it. Thanks for all the info on this forum, its really been helpful.

Sounds like you had a busy day at the track. I found a good solution to the steering problem is an A&L ball bearing setup with modern ball cups and B4 titanium turnbuckles. You might also want to check out parma double stick tape. They sell it in the shop and you will never have a ESC come lose again.

You should enter the big race this weekend, or just swing by and check out the racing action. My RC-10 OIN will be entered in the 17.5 class. It is going to be a long weekend, but it sure is fun.

Hey welcome to the board! I went through some of the same issues that you are going through. You are on the right track with the JC Racing wheels - I have 3 sets and they are awesome.

First thing as already mentioned - get the A&L steering setup. It is a high quality piece and worth every penny. Next, at some point you are going to break the front shock tower, so go get a carbon fibre one from RC Carbon Works. They have towers that are 3mm thick and taller to accomodate modern shocks. That's another thing you can do - get modern shocks and springs all around.

Upfront, you can still order a lot of parts:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX2511&P=M

Also if you need a new body:

Rear:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX2557&P=M

There's also RPM front / rear arms and lots of stealth tranny bits still available!

Also, check out oldrc.com because they have lots of original NIP parts too.

One thing that helped with my steering was I used Dubro ball link ends on the servo, and the turnbuckles too. I originally had a cheapy Traxxas waterproof servo but upgraded to a low profile Savox servo and haven't looked back - the thing is wicked fast and strong. Amazing centering ability too, just leagues ahead of the old stuff.

Good luck with the racing, post up some pics!

Hey Rcz,

Welcome to wonderful world of racing....specially the vintage RC10..

Don't be discouraged, and keep at it, these cars are great performers as long as you have the right setup and tires.

I've run my Rc10 at the JConcepts race at RCE last year and did pretty well with it.

At RCE, I ran my rc10 with jconcepts barcodes in blue compound (rear) and jconcepts groovies (fronts), these will give you a more aggressive steering without loosing traction.

As far as springs and oil weights, I used Associated oil in 25 or 30 weight all around and green springs on all four corners, as for Pistons I used #1 Pistons in all 4 shocks

Overall, the best advice I can give you is, find Chris Cristo and pick his brain, he's got an awesome RC10 and could give you the best possible set up advise at RCE, as he's a local racer, and a fast one at that, he'll get you headed in the right direction. Also, Ed (sonic) has run his rc10 at RCE, he should be able to help you out also.....

And ask ask ask many questions....

Have fun racing sir.....
Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what R/C car you're gonna get next!!!
