Here's a little project I have been working on for a while now. With thanks to my good friend Rob I got the majority of this car in trade a while back. I can't take anycredit for the custom chassis plate nor the nice paint scheme but I recently pulled this car down, cleaned every part and re-assembled (without any manual to reference)

Along the way I added a nice set of used option House 'GOLD' dampers, a hardened final pinion, Optima Mid custom front shock tower, delrin top gear and .6 module counter gear. Sporting a new set of 2.0" 3 peice rims and a set of Marwan's repro OT66 tyres I am very happy with the way this car turned out.

I know these front wheel drives arent everyone's cup of tea but i have to say i really like it!

GREAT looking car! I love the Maxxum, it wasnt a great car but it has a awesome stance and was very unique. I built a few dual motor setups with ultima diffs on the back when they were closing these out cheap at tower. I am a big fan and continue to look for one

Thanks Rob. I have been contemplating a different shell altogether. I was thinking maybe another Kyosho or perhaps something aftermarket.
Wishing I had my box of Tamiya spray cans up here with me. It will give me some time to think anyways.

I am thinking of trying out an old school 'cab forward' type shell on this car. Maybe a Marui Ninja body???

Any suggestions for this chassis?

Cool car Jason. I think you should reaally tune on that car, and run it at the next vintage get together you all do down under. It'd be cool to see if it could "hang".

Don't do cab-forward..... they look like steaming faeces....

Find something nice, maybe a repro standard body, or something Optima-ish.... and good luck doing a vintage scheme better than the Bullfrog scheme!

I have to say the way FWDs drive and handle isn't my cup of tea, but that is one fantastic-looking car. Beauty eh?

ok, more serious. I'd try TBG's repro of the rampage or stinger MK2.
They are similar to the maxxum but wider upfront so the gear cover would be more covered. They also go up a little more in the rear so you could maybe cover the rear tower.

Well done. Excellent paintjob too. Is that the same body as the Turbo Ultima? I bet you could fit most bodies designed for the Ultima or Optima from the same period.

That's actually a good question...at first I thought it was an Optima Pro body, because I have a body similar to that with the weird tiny wing on the rear, but the window lines are different. I'm guessing from the wing & double-sided tape that there's a bit of mix-'n'-match going on. Looks great, whatever the case may be.
