Re: Oople 2012 Vintage Cougar racer
Just been having a think about cells and locations...
It's going to be using 4500 lrp lipo saddle packs, there is no way these will go under the rear bulk head, can the bulkhead be chopped about or raised??
How about going for a saddle pack style in the middle of the car? Like the Cougar SV2
Any ideas or pics welcome.....

Servo in, tried to use the Schumacher mounts but the were too wide so used some 12th scale ones I had in my box.
Hpi purple turnbuckle too, used an old school KO servo

Ko 100X Fet Series... the absolute best ever!!!
This will turn out super nice - can't wait to see it run faster lap times than the B4s, TRF201's and the likes!!!

Dont want to hijack your thread mate. Just wanted to show you the SV Lipo holders.
The aft screws may work but the forward ones are too wide I think.

Re: Oople 2012 Vintage Cougar racer
Today's little update!
Cells and bulkhead in, needed a fair clean up as they had rust water all over them, added more purple bling too!
Just need to secure the cells for side to side movement but still thinking about this one, maybe servo posts in original chassis holes or some carbon spacers bolted down.
Love your topcat btw Brad!

Starting to come together nicely
As for cell holders, why not some thing like the rudebits B44 trays? Like : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RUDE-BITS-BRASS-LIPO-TRAY-FOR-TEAM-ASSOCIATED-B44-4WD-ELECTRIC-BUGGY-/200774689166?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item2ebf1aa18e
They would bolt in quite nicely, and they've got the added weight that the buggy will probably need.
Paul.

Re: Oople 2012 Vintage Cougar racer
Gearbox rebuild next up, all went pretty well really, flipped the diff plates and added the Schumacher spring washers to the diff bolt to keep tension on it.
Added M3 hex bolts and new self tappers and bearings though out.

All done and ready to go on the chassis!

Re: Oople 2012 Vintage Cougar racer
Looking good!... I really enjoy these builds.... taking the best bits to build a supreme vintage runner - cosmetically they may not be 100% perfect but ideal for a car thats going to be raced in anger!
I'm looking forward to hearing how it gets on in such expert hands
