Re: Sick new Tamiya Hornet release
Was the Hornet's body always lexan? Or is it only the Super Hornet that had an ABS body?Winger wrote:Coelacanth wrote:Pink, purple & black & white polka-dots...maybe it could've been cooler to just look like a real hornet, with yellow & black hornet stripes, yellow tires & black wheels?
I second this idea...it looks like it has the original black tires so he wouldn't have to buy that.

Re: Sick new Tamiya Hornet release
Just saw on Tamiyaclub that it apparently includes some more options. I already spotted the red alloy wheel nuts, and the box says it includes white wheels and black tires and additional stickers.

That was the first thing I noticed. Why include both?Winger wrote:Coelacanth wrote:Pink, purple & black & white polka-dots...maybe it could've been cooler to just look like a real hornet, with yellow & black hornet stripes, yellow tires & black wheels?

Shocking! It makes it look like some sort of cheap nasty copy that you would find at a Sunday market! I'd expect it to run of AA batteries!

Do, or do not! There is no 'try'!
RC; Boats, Buggies, Trucks, Bash's, Racing and of course 'VINTAGE'!

I think its seriously wicked. Have done since it was leaked, its Japanese quirk at its best, and i applaud Tamiya for making it.

Do ya think Jun Watanabe might be a fan of Randy Rhoads? lol
If anyone's interested in how it came to look like it did, check the guys website.
http://www.junwatanabe.jp/
Personally I think I'll pass on the matching shoes, but he does have a bit where he shows his build of the car:
http://www.junwatanabe.jp/rc/
He has some interesting ideas and to me that's always been the fun thing about painting bodies. Now we just need a Pokemon Sand Scorcher and a Hello Kitty Clodbuster
.
Actually in all seriousness, this has inspired me to start painting my own bodies again, I just need to find the space.

Wait, the RTR version comes with a pink and purple transmitter?

Edit: Okay, so this car kinda interested me because of its weirdness, but at the prices it goes for on Ebay it's not worth it. I can get 2.5 Rising Fighters (aka the Grasshopper III) for the price of one polka-dot-mobile...

I think Lady Gaga called Tamiya, she wants her look back...or was it Katy Perry? Or Hello Kitty?

I'm still trying to get over the "SICK"

It kind of brings the meaning of the word back full circle...
Seriously, to each his own I guess.

The black wheels & crazy colors are ok to live with...but those pink tires are as ass-ugly as a Proline Bulldog...
Projects and shelfers:
Late Edinger, RC10B2, Dual Sport, GT, Kyosho Turbo Ultima, Triumph, Tamiya Sand Scorcher, Blackfoot/Monster Beetle, '67 Beetle, Nikko Rhino, Traxxas Fiero, Slash, Hand-built Dune Buggy..all on here somewhere...

Re: Sick new Tamiya Hornet release
I picked up a set of the black wheels to use on a future project, but that's about all I could see myself using from this kit...
Maybe if my g/f ever wants me to build her a car I'll pick one of these up.
