novak nesc-1

Post by Dave145 »

I have an old novak nesc-1 speed control and a yokomo 14 turn double wi.nd brushed motor. Every time I try to run the car, the 25 amp fuse blows out. Can i remove the fuse and run the car without blowing up the speed control or will the speed control fry after a few passes? I'm also running in dirt/grass if that makes a difference.

1) 14-Turn motor for NESC-1 (just to make sure You do have NESC-1 not eg. NESC-1T) is too "hot". That ESC was sold in mid 1985-1986 when something like 17-turn motor was hilarious fast.

2) Do not run in grass and/or another surface where is high traction, high traction eats more Amps. Also 4wd cars are more harder for ESC than 2wd cars. If You have to run in high traction, try some slick tires to make less traction.

3) Use only 6-cell batteries, not 7-cell batteries.

4) Check that your gear ration is correct area and try to use eg. small pinion and/or big spur gear.

5) Is Your cars transmission including bearings in good/smooth condition

Currently in my stock rc10 Goldpan I have the stock 6 gear transmission with a fully restored ball bearing kit inside that is very smooth, and I do have the nesc-1. Instead of the nesc-1x.

My gear ratio is also 48 (spur) to 16 (pinion) in size 32 pitch gears.
