Another Old/New build BORING :)

Post by RichieRich »

This weekend, a used RC10 chassis just fell into my lap. Sigh, what to do? I think I've decided to build another old/new buggy. Anyways, here are some of the parts I've gathered since my last build. I have to dig out a bunch more. I think I may only need a rear bulkhead and a motor plate. The shock tower in the pic is from Hyeong (59burst) and I got it from him nearly a year ago. Funny how these things sit and wait.

I had some time to work on this tonight. The girls were busy so I had some quiet time to myself. ;)

Some of the screws are placeholders since I can't find the correct size in my toolbox. For example, the blue screw in the middle there holding the nose plate. i have some on order.

before you get too far, you might want to chop the back of the nose plate off.

Love the shock tower. What type is that?

you gonna bring this one out to a track :) , lemme know where/when. maybe my OIN car will be done by then, if not, my CE is ready!

I'd love a tracing of that tower.

Yeah, this one is going out on the track. My first old/new buggy is too nice. I cringed every time I crashed it. I'm just waiting to get some of bigjeepzz's new suspension arms to complete the car. Then I'll have to paint a body, cut/drill/tap some nose tubes and it'll be ready to go. The tower is pretty sweet. I bet 59burst has the drawings for it.

I had some time to work again today...Father's Day weekend. ;)

I added the suspension arms, RPM carriers and spur gear. I made some nose tubes. The carbon fiber front tower needs some hand-fitting and I can't seem to find my files at the moment. So, I have the RPM worlds tower there and a stock FRP rear tower temporarily in place.

Yes, those are jeepz arms in the pics.

Question for everyone: I still need to obtain some shocks. How does everyone like the new Associated V2 shocks? I was thinking of trying them out on this build. I think I would need the ones from the SC10? 1.02 fronts and 1.18 rears, correct?

I use 1.02 fronts and 1.32 rears with 1.02 shafts (to minimize the need to limiters). Your using the standard buggy rear tower, right?

I dont have V2's, but my understanding is they are better than V1's, not sure if it is the build/maintenance portion or just better overall.
