start of blackdog build with mockups
I don't know if it really qualifies as vintage but I just picked up a used cc01 that I am rebuilding. This is my first trail rig. I got it with a nikko toyota looking body but I am going to use a first gen blackfoot body on it. Here are some before pics and the body I am using not that anyone here really needs to see another blackfoot body. So far the screw holes for the gear box is stripped out causing the gears to slip so I have to drill the holes all the way through and use longer bolts and nuts to bolt everything together. All said and done I am looking forward to this build.

Re: my new to me cc01
That's a cool truck, how hard are parts to find for something like that?
RC10talk.com is like a bad accident, I just can't stop looking at it...

Re: my new to me cc01
Parts are readily available for these trucks. From what I can tell Tamiya still makes the little rig. There are a ton of aftermarket parts because they seem to be a rather popular scale rig. My LHS doesn't stock the parts for it so I have to buy online.
Here are some dealers for aftermarket parts

First thing I recomend upgrading is the steering

Nice. The xc/cc-01 is one of my favorite scale trucks. I've made a few conversions using Tamiya's Blackfoot and Brat bodies. Make sure you lock both diffs to use the 4wds full potential.

Got any pics of how you set up the body mounts? Also any help in how to fill in the old holes in the body would be great.SMOKE-DOG wrote:Nice. The xc/cc-01 is one of my favorite scale trucks. I used heavy duty Velcro to hold the body down on my scale trucks. Works great. To fill body holes you have to do some plastic work. I use plastruct or something similar and a plastic rod the same size as the hole to fill it. Then wet sand it smooth. Working with plastic isn't hard but takes some patients and practice.

Re: my new to me cc01
Thanks for the info smoke. Now for updates on project "Black Dog". I haven't had the time to really get much done but I did get some mockups and a posing pic.
Here I have the body height worked out and mocked up stacks with 2 tx antenn Since the black foot body was missing its tailgate I mocked up what I am planning to do. A functional tailgate that will have chains and all along with "cargo" to hide the back of the cc01 chassis. I pulled this bumper off of a trashed exceed truggy and I am going to cut off the lower part to attach the brush guard part to the diamond plate bumper I am building and I am cutting the brick wall off the front of the chassis last but not least a flex shot of it on some garden rocks I grabbed from outside
