Not to be left out, I thought I'd post a picture of my Christmas present.
I recently won this on an auction site here in Japan. It is a two speed Mini Mustang and is in good condition with the exception of the bumper, which looks like it has been cut down to fit a touring car shell.
The other two are of my Maximas which I have a huge soft spot for, so I thought I'd include them for the ride.
Yes at the Mini Mustang it looks like Associated shocks.
I remember the plastic shocks from the Mini Mustang were not very good and did break sometimes.
Soon after I got my kit the UK based brand Brimod was releasing some aluminium shocks for the Mini Mustang what also had more oil in them.
From what I remember these even were threaded. I´m pretty sure I still have those shocks and some other stuff from the Mini Mustang, maybe have to go through the offroad boxes some time.
Finally got around to working on this car.
Ive fitted some old Tamiya shocks which I dyed black. The body is from Mr. Lexan. (thank you, very nice).
I still need to locate some front tyres but I think I may have some spare somewhere around back in the UK.
Other than that, just a new bumper is required. No idea why, but there seems to be a disproportionate number of PB cars with cut down bumpers. Any idea why this is? All I can think, is that it was to allow a touring bodyshell.
Anyway, just the paint to apply. Thinking of of orange. I had a picture stuck on my wall of the orange Mini Mustang back in the 80's painted up like the Orange Maxima. I cant quite remember the detail of it, so if anyone one has a scan it would be really helpful.
It looks as though you are on your way to very nice Mustang there Mr Mogul. PB's really are great cars for their time (well atleast I think so).
The front bumper can get in the way on the front of the Maxima. I find 2.2" wheels need more clearance. Atleast that's the experience that I've had.
Finally finished the painting.
Quite difficult to think of nice scheme. In the end, I think this works nicely.
Anyway, nice looking buggy, and one that will now sit nicely between my 2 Maximas.
If you see this and no pictures i got it wrong again.lol
Well here is my mini mustang. just finished it. i've had it from new(about 85/86 a long time ago).
Had to make a few parts but not to bad.
I do have the 2 speed for it. But i think some parts are missing. if anyone has copy of a manual for or the 2 speed that could help me out lots.
