Shodog's Ascot Sprinter

Post by shodog »

After seeing others sprint car projects got me motivated to do something with my Ascot sprint car conversion. It stalled out long ago when I wasn't happy with the wheels on it. I had a set of tecnacrafts slated for this vehicle but they needed a lot of restoration. I also needed to modify the aluminum hub mounts to fit the pan car wheels. In the last few days I have gotten over that cruical hurdle. My friend let me use his lathe to turn down the hubs and polish out the wheels. There were huge black oxidized spots on the wheels. I buffed them with fine steel wool then was able to use mother mag wheel polish to shine them up.

here they are mounted to my chassis

I still got a long way to go. I have the plan out the body and livery

Man those really turned out nice! Did you have the centers reannodized? Keep up the progress, this is a beautiful car!

Yes, the car does look good. As questioned above, were the centres re-annodised or did you spray paint them?

I sprayed the centers with Tamiya clear orange spray paint. If you spray lightly enough it will look like they are annodized

The polishing job gets my seal of approval. Now you just need to turn those back wheels in the other direction. :P

you know shodog, there's a pretty big dirt oval scene here in the bay area, maybe you should bring it out and put it through it's paces? only question is do you want to run it in 13.5 spec or open mod? alternatively you could come run with us in the north bay on the pavement without a wing!

Looks good!

The red on the wheel on my CC worlds was done with tamiya red paint also. All the other red parts was done with annodizing
