RC10T to meet ROAR Buggy Specs

Post by dspy8083 »

I started building my second RC10 and it is a truck chassis and nose with T arms.

The ROAR width limit is about 9.8".

The front end on my RC10 with buggy wheels is about 10.200" so I need to narrow it down. I remember seeing somewhere on here where someone had machined the inboard bearing side of the front buggy bearing surface to give more back spacing. I believe I may be able to take out 1/8" possibly 3/16" per side which will get me really close to spec.
*Is there another knuckle I can use that can narrow and close the gap between the knuckle and the outer pin?

Regarding the rear T arms, I am going to use B4 CVD's (length should match up with inner pins next to Diff), T hub carrier and make a custom rear arm mount to bring the arms more inboard to go right alongside the Stealth tranny (from a B4). The mount will have a matching square to lock the B4 Stealth in place using original holes so I will not need to drill my original 84 Edinger Chassis.

-Any input on this? I am sure some of you have already done something like this......

Thanks!

it depends on what your goal is. If you are planning to do a 'different' build, then start with the truck arms and narrow the chassis as much as you can, if you can. You may find that the arms are just too long with the limitations of the tub chassis to get it that narrow. I know you are going to run into trouble with the width of the chassis in the rear with the arms, you will need to cut reliefs in the chassis to allow the arms to droop.

otherwise, the 'old is new' type car was developed to give you long arms, ROAR compliance, and the ability to use off the shelf B4 wheels.

I think a cool project would be to use B2/B3 arms on a tub chassis, kinda like what a prototype B2 would have been prior to making a molded plastic chassis. Custom drilled rear tub, and custom nose plate to get the widths right.

It sounds like you want to do something like this build by Y'ernat Al:
