The car in the pic is a 91/92 works I believe, they used a unique link made by yokomo, similar to the 93 era RCPS and kinda like lunsford. On third look they look like standard works 91' as I've seen a notched version on most 93's here-cyberfox wrote:yes ? It's works 93 parts ?

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
the car in the pic is mine, it's a mix between YZ870C and works 91
So to summarize, it's standard Yokomo part, but I can find some similar lunsford parts to replace it.
Thank you everybody

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Sorry for the bad pics, had to take them with my phone.
A co-worker brought this to the shop today, and doesn't know what it is. All he knows is that it came from a guy who ran it in Finland.
Any ideas?

That's a Roadrunner Xpress, maybe from '98, '99. Fiberglass chassis and decks would be Xpress Junior model. Xpress had all carbon fiber and Xpress pro was CF with red anodized bulkheads.tim.sanderson wrote:Sorry for the bad pics, had to take them with my phone.

Good job! The knowledge on this site never ceases to amaze me. You've given me a head start in some research.
It indeed has a fiberglass chassis. Our guess was 15 years, which would have made it '97 or so.
It's actually a very nice car, and could easily be a competitive racer in some classes today.
Thanks lpddpd.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
I've seen one of these bodies on a RC12 chassis, but never seen one in person. They rarely pop up for sale and no one yet has been willing to ship to the US yet. I really want one for my collection, but don't even know who made them or when they were made. I'm guessing maybe Kamtec from the early 80s? Anyone seen one before or have more info?

Pic is from an ebay UK auction about a year ago. Seller had no info.

Don´t know the Xpress cars very good, but the motor also is interesting. It´s an old AYK GZ1200R motor.tim.sanderson wrote:Sorry for the bad pics, had to take them with my phone.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
I think you're right! It does seem to be Mardave and not Kamtec. I even have one of the Mardave "V-Dub" cars but didn't realize the two were from the same company. Doh...EvolutionRevolution wrote:Mardave Banger body perhaps?

The regular v-dub body doesn't have the molded in front bumper. I think that's what threw me off
Since then I've found pics of another version of the body with the side pods. Both seem to be long out of production.

I'll find a couple one day!

Not exactly the same body but you can try emailing this guy and see where he got his Mardave Beetle body.

A little nicer looking IMO.
