what would you call it

Post by slim_chance »

I just picked up some SCT wheels and tires along with a Duratrax Evaderbody and jokingly slapped them on my Rustler. Wouldn't think it would qualify as a SCB.

Not really a build I just was messing around. I will be taking the decals off if I leave the body on it. This truck is really just a basher right now.

Now for photo evidance of my craziness

Talked to the guy that runs the LHS and he said that I could run it as a SCB in a sportsman class. I would be running it against SCT's and SCB's. I want to do some more work to it first like changing to bearings at the hub carriers better motor esc combo and some kind of rear bumper/guard for the motor/gearbox first. Test ran it like it is it handles and jumps great. As for speed though it kinda lacks a little with the stinger motor.

Pretty much the plan. Was going to make a SCT out of it but kinda like it this way.

Put the black can motor I had in the Stampede in it with a novak explorer II, 7 cell, and a 23t pinion for now. Dang thing is faster than expected and the cooling fins on the ecs hardly got warm. Still had great acceleration and way faster top end then before.

Now I just need the guts out of a vxl/xl5 gearbox so I can run a brushless with out blowing gears.

For now I been thinking about getting my oldest daughter a xl5 esc for her tl01 so I can use the tekin tsc 610-g that's in it. It can run up to 12 cell battery pack and can hande a 10t motor.

The crazy things that come to mind when you are bored. In reaity this critter will probably never see a real race. It is probably doomed to be an on going experament test bed till it dies.

Just speed tested it a few minutes ago with my gps. I got a maximum speed of 24.3 mph.
A good improvement but not fast enough yet. The proline SC tires stick like glue on asphault and I got to be careful when turning it on the street

I have decided to dub it the rus' buggy. It does show my off the wall thinking. I was not even thinking of a SCB when I built it.
It is funny how the evader body just fit right on with only a little trimming to clear the steering servo link. It does not reach the front mount that is a left over for the bandit but the front rustler body mount bar holds it down perfectly and the rear mount hole is a perfect match up for the rear mount and shock tower.
Next step is to build the gaurd for the motor and gear box and I was thinking of mounting a spare SC tire on the back over the gearbox for added protection and to keep it from nose diving so much. I might use a modified slash rear bumper to build the rear cage off of.
Oh and I aquired an exceed truggy when I got the SC tires for the rus' buggy I am thinking of using the aluminum threaded shocks from it. It also came with a novatech 75a hsp esc that I don't know if it is worth using. Any one know any thing about those besides the fact that they appear to be non lipo compatable?
