Re: venom brushless 2s only for 4x4 ?
now this is just my take on this stuff Don and will welcome anyone to correct me on this. It was designed for 4x4 and recommended for it. Doesn't mean you have to use it for that though. Like with the brushed motors that would be specifically wound for 4x4, on road, off road, etc. They were built for the rigors of the application it was designed for but would run in anything...maybe not good but they would run.
No need for special batterys. Should be able to run with any battery. Servo should be the same also. I can't help you out with a manual but if you found one is stock somewhere there should be a manual for one somewhere online for it. Someone with more 'venom' experience might be able to help you out there.
Did you ever get your phone figured out so you could post some pix?

I don't see a manual for the motor, but here's the ESC manual:
http://www.venom-group.com/core/media/media.nl/id.9974/c.1327152/.f?h=fc2f178fc1fe8d57b8df
I don't see why it wouldn't work, you might have to turn the punch down or get a wheelie bar

Website says 2c lipo reccomended, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't run high capacity nimh. I think they just want you to buy their battery also
