Not saying your wrong, but your likely ( if ever at all ) to encounter an intruder during evening/early morning hours- magnaporting does reduce muzzle lift some, but it also expels the red hot gases in your sight picture giving you some "flash blindness" causing your vision to be severely impaired if you want to see after-rc10johnny wrote:If anyone is not tolerant of barrel rise good old MagnaPort works just fine...I just got a new catalogue from CDNN and they have some new pistols .....less expensive that are ported already...JMOP! I carried a S&W mod 29 4" in Phoenix..Maricopa Co. in the 80's MagnaPort...worked very well in the "shoot box"

Re: Guns!
Here is my Zombie security. I took a 20 inch barrel, cut it down, machined a new crown, and threaded the barrel for the compensator.
I machined a new two piece aluminum gas block and moved the entire gas system back 5 inches.
Turned out pretty nice and shoots accurate. Basically recreated a bushmaster disspator whitout purchasing the stuff from them.
I have been toying with the idea of registering the rifle as an SBR and going down to an 11 or 10 inch barrel, but I keep procrastinationg on the paperwork.

Re: Guns!
That is a nice gun jeepzz! I would shorten it!
As for caliber! Bigger means more stopping power but if you can't hit your target, it's pointless!
As for Zombies or The End of the World 12/2012 (AKA Solar Flare
)! What is the most common ammo you can find in any department or sports store in large volumes? 22LR! I don't care who you are, one to the head or heart and your dead! Remember, you wont be stopping Grizzlies! People are fragile creatures! Aim straight! MOA bro's! One shot, one kill!

7.62x39 might be the most plentifull, but not in this country, although it is my preferred round by far.

I think I may have creeped him out! I'm sorry Reg, I hope it never happens in my, or my kids, or my kids, kids lifetime! But you can't pretend that it wont happen some day! You will protect and feed the ones you love first! Sorry to be so blunt!, but you have to be a realist!
I hope I never see us go back to the dark ages!
BTW, I have 2 Russian SKS's ( both Tula, one is an unissued 1949) and 2 crates of Russian surplus 7.62x39 and one crate of 7.62x54R for my SVT and Mosin Nagant ex sniper with PU scope!

Re: Guns!
Well, comfort for me is a little bit of an issue. I have been looking at the 40cal and above range because of hand fit. I am 6'4', 280 and have hands like a bunch of banana's. The wife loves them, but the smaller guns don't
. I really appreciate the input, keep it coming.
On a slightly different note, I don't believe in zombies, but I do believe in mankinds ability to be stupid, ignorant, savages. Really, this is what has gotten us by all this time and we can't be expected to change any time soon. In the next 15 years, we (humankind) will be tested, in maners that we have never had to face before. We will be (most of us anyways) unprepared for the decisions we will have to make and survive. It will start here in the US, and have repercussions throughout the world.
My parents are quite religious. I had a discussion with my mother over Christmas reagarding this potential "situation" in the next few years. She said that she felt god would do with her what he needed (meaning she wouldn't change the way she lives her life, or prepare for the worst). She (and my father) have that option. They are old, and are ready to go "elseware". I on the other hand am not. I have a wife and 3 children, and have faith in little but my own abilities. I also have a duty to them to do my best to provide -food, shelter, clothing, and above all else safety. So realy I am trying to get a little piece of mind and prepare for whatever the future holds. -Jeff

bet you my neighbors house that those things has seen action a thing or two.....

me like the middle one with scope... sure hate to be in front of that Red Dot.... when that thing fires.... What do you call that scope johnny (Reflex sight)?...
But personally i like the 1911, but for us civillian in our country (PH) we are not permitted to own one that is above 9MM caliber unless we are military or we need to be a gunclub member which means a yearly membership fee needs to be paid and expenses expenses.... been wanting a Glock 19C, i myself want the 17 but my wifes hands is small so would opt for a 19.... oh well.... 9mm has enough stoping power but not as powerfull as 1911. but as they say its not the power but where you place your holes... right???

had a 1911 before but sold it and always wanted to get a 19 ever since but when this hobby sets in then all those wanting faded away... hahaha... anyway from where we stay now, only the police has the rights to carry or own guns.....
