Shocks for my ultima

Post by Momo5 »

Ive been on the look out for some kyosho gold shocks for my ultima, but I havent been able to score any at a decent price. My original ultima will have the longer Ultima Pro shock towers, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if these shocks will work?

I'm not racing so I dont care if theyre not top of the line...as long as theyre decent. Thanks!

Those will work to replace long Kyosho Gold rear and front shocks. To reduce the length (if necessary), use shorter ball ends or ball cups, and put in some plastic spacers inside the piston shafts to limit the piston travel.

To lengthen the shocks, use longer ball ends or cups. With those minor adjustments, those 3Racing shocks should fit anywhere long & short Kyosho Golds should fit.

EDIT: I also found the 3Racing shocks quite firm. I remedied this with my CYANide car by replacing the oil with 25W - 30W oil, and opened up the stock piston holes. They work very nicely after those tweaks.
Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid
Gallery - Coel's Stalls: Marui Galaxy & Shogun Resto-Mods | FrankenBuff AYK Buffalo | 1987 Buick GNX RC12L3

I use Yeah 70mm shocks For the front.

Yeah racing 90mm for the rear.

Yeah racing takes Losi springs so i than use Losi White or Gray springs on the rear and AE Black front springs. Works really well.

I might be tempted to sell a NIB full Kyosho platinum shocks .

Let us know how you get on with the shocks. I'm looking at swapping out the ones off my Raider and golds are gonna be a nightmare and probably too expensive for me to get hold of!
