Lipo balance setting
Lipo balance setting
Someone told me recently to always charge my lipo on the Lipo Balance setting on the charger rather than the Lipo Chrge setting
I use the harness no matter
Opinions or help?

Re: Lipo balance setting
Yeah that answers my question
I just mean should you always use LIPO BALANCE instea of LIPO CHaRgE
Didn't know if it was bad for the pack or unnecessary to do the balance each time or if you have the balance cable attached when you run LIpO CHARGE it will automatically balance too

Re: Lipo balance setting
kinda to answer a little deeper...some guys never balance and only do it once in awhile to maintain packs. Some guys balance every time. Its pretty much what you want to do. I balance mine once in awhile but more times thru the busy months.
Does it need to be balanced every time? No.
Does it hurt to balance every time? No.

Re: Lipo balance setting
I personally balance charge it it each time. I know it probably doesn't matter but I just feel better doing it.

Re: Lipo balance setting
It depends a lot on the quality of the pack, the Thunder Power packs I use are hardly ever out of balance more than .01v I put the balancer on them about every 10 cycles regardless to check and they are fine nine times out of ten. I've had some of the popular Chinese packs in the past that would have to be balanced almost every cycle, and wouldn't hold balance to save their lives.

Re: Lipo balance setting
Would you mind if you guys listed a few of the makes and models of the chargers being used, along with how you are balancing the lipo pack?
I have a Triton 2 charger, and an Astro Blinky balancer.

I have an iMax B6AC (same as the B6 but comes with an A/C adapter so you can plug in any outlet) and use its built-in balance charge feature.Diamond Dave wrote:Would you mind if you guys listed a few of the makes and models of the chargers being used, along with how you are balancing the lipo pack?

Re: Lipo balance setting
I have a checkpoint charger that I don't use too much anymore except for on the bench cycling and storing packs, and two turnigy Accucel-6's that are simply awesome little chargers for the money that I use at the track (they only charge up to 6 amps but I only charge at 1c so it's not a problem). I also have a common sense balance pro card in my box that I'll check packs with once in a while.

Re: Lipo balance setting
It does tend to take longer if it's the first time and the cells were out of balance.Lowgear wrote:Does it take any longer to do a balance charge?
I balance charge everytime due to a bad experience in the past and as a result it only take a couple of minutes longer than other guys who aren't balance charging.

Re: Lipo balance setting
I use a SkyRC Imax B6 Ultimate charger with a converted ATX computer power supply for power. I always balance charge.
