Help identifying old motors

Post by fredswain »

I'm posting this pic from another forum since people here seem to know everything there is to know about the vintage stuff. What motors are these?

Can You turn the LRP 180-degrees? There should be dot on the other side that tells something about that motor.

They aren't my motors so these pics are all that I have. The LRP has a green armature if that helps.

Sorry, the dot is the only way tell what kind of motor is that. It can be offroad, 1:10 onroad, or 1:12 motor. LRP didn't even tell in those days what wind the motors had, only to which class, to what kind of track the motor was meant and gearing recommendations. Like: offroad motor for slippery tracks. Kyosho MID 18-tooth pinion, Cat 20-tooth pinion etc.

The green labeled motor is a Trinity - Joel "Magic" Johnson, Signature Series motor. I believe it was a seventeen turn motor, maybe 17x2, intended for two-wheel drive modified class racing (i.e. intended for RC10's / Ultima's / etc.).

The LRP motor was a real power house in it's day.

I bought 2 of them when racing in the U.K from a hobby shop in a clearance bin. No wind just names like Killer & Mr Cool. So i opened her up to see it was a triple with 2 different color windings ( Split wind ) and i think had 153 on the arm. So i geared like a 15 Triple.
