how to replace old tranny rc10t
how to replace old tranny rc10t
so... i have an old rc10t... that never ran until recently..... well, after half a day of playing with it, i fried the tranny.... what can i do about replacing it?
the outdrives dont spin, but the spur gear does.....
should i loosen up the slipper clutch?
i was running a 3650-540, tacon, 2-pole, brushless, 9t, motor with a mmp and 2 x 2s, 2300 mah spc, lipo batteries (actually the setup i will be using in my traxxas 1/16 mini e-revo)

Re: how to replace old tranny rc10t
When you hit the trigger and doesnt go and slipper not slipping, then it may be the diff screw that holds the diff halves together. If its assembled but put in facring the wrong direction in the tranny housing it can become loose. If you pop the turnbuckle off that holds the rear axle and look in the outdrive of the tranny should see an allen screw head if not it on the other side.If its tight, youve destroyed the diff gear if.If its loose tighten it snuggly but not torque it tight. Then place both tires on a table top the try turn spur gear if both wheels turn your good.DON

Re: how to replace old tranny rc10t
check your diff screw anyway. Might've stripped out the plastic nut on it or broke it completely. Next place of interest would be the idler gear and then the diff gear. If you did any kind of jumping/cartwheeling/crashing with rpms up you could've sheared the teeth on either of them.
This is only my experience but hope it helps.

Re: how to replace old tranny rc10t
i think i had the slipper set pretty tight, still haven't torn into it yet, but is there a drop in tranny that is newer that i could put in?
also, what about speed? i of course love hard and fast! but... i don't know what to expect out of the old rc10t...
i have atraxxas mini revo, and it is set up to do about 60 mph.....
i dont think i will see that out of the rc10t, but what can i expect?
i am contemplating fixing it, or selling it... possibly, fixing it, then selling it, but i don't have access to the market place on this forum yet
