I asked myself the same question about that post.

I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Here's a new twist:

Oh, that's not the "stock" photo reversed...

Re: New protech body:differences from original?
i do think its VERY VERY cool that the bodies were updated, thicker is awesome and it keeps our old lids collectable.
how thick are they anyway measured w/o the overspray film?
it ended up the bodies i had on backorder forever were from a card i cancelled awhile back, so instead of even bothering to update it and all that i just cancelled the whole thing. besides, i've spent enough money on toys this month already...
its funny, but now that i know they are back i aint in a hurry to buy any.

Re: New protech body:differences from original?
i ordered 6 (3 vipers and 3 protechs) about 3-4 months ago, i never had any hope of them coming so i payed over the odds for NIP bodies from ebay and i also bought a viper when they came in to tower the other day. now my back order's here i'm suddenly swimming in bodies
much to the extreme displeasure of mrs volumiza.
i'm a little dissapointed they changed them, my friend offered me a swap a few weeks back (he's got an original protech and i 've got a sidewinder) and i turned him down as i thought the new protechs would be the same
. now he wont swap and i'm not as satisfied with my 6010 resto as i should be. that'll teach me for dragging my heels

Re: New protech body:differences from original?
thicker is good IMO, but changing the netting pattern isn't
well, at least we are now able to tell the difference between an old one and a re-release. I was waiting for the new ones to pop-up again before opening my last NIP Protech, but now that I know they are different, I still can't bring myself to cut and paint it... Did anyone compare the old and new Viper's? I wonder if there are also striking differences

Yes, thank goodness for that, finally we can all buy new bodies we don't need and rip off people...MelvinsArmy wrote:Yeah! My favorite part is that after months and months of waiting for RC10 bodies, we in the know can empty retail inventories and flip them on ebay for a nice profit. I like that style of listing!!

Re: New protech body:differences from original?
I just bought another protech off ebay,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130161054579
The seller commented that he had seen my auction listing and that his was indeed the old-style body. I'm surprised it stayed up there so long at that price given how bidding on other parts has gone crazy for period correct items.
It just didn't feel right putting the new release body on an early car knowing there were differences.

...and with the re-release from China, we may see some old stock hit the Bay from those who are not in the Knowaconsola wrote:I just bought another protech off ebay,

Nice score.
Maybe the change from Made in USA to China will keep prices high for the original Made in USA bodies, for the die-hard collectors that want to be as original as possible.

Your safe Anthony if it comes with that label... that should be another distinguishing factor between new and old.

Re: New protech body:differences from original?
It's totally sarcastic, and I'm being serious about the matter. I'm SO glad that I have everything I want RC10-wise. If you want to flip new high demand products on ebay, that's fine. I'm just not going to sit quite while people pat you on the back for it. I have nothing against you personally, just the practice of making a hobby that used to be fun into a business.aconsola wrote:I'm not sure if that is a serious or sarcastic remark, Maybe I'm reading too much into it and feeling a little guilty for flipping one after the long waitMelvinsArmy wrote: Yeah! I guess the description of the item has gotten the word out a bit. It has no bids and only 1 watcher thus far despite the BIN being less than what recent auctions have ended at, and the starting price being much less than what the other listed ones are currently bid to.
btw, I'm not looking for a fight or an arguement with anyone here. Just expressing my opinion. If you've got a different opinion, go ahead and say it. Just keep it civilized please.

Re: New protech body:differences from original?
I am not trying to profit off current production items, nor do I make a business out of it. I posted the auction for the protech after seeing others listed with no indication that there were differences, and one auction that seemed to be hiding that it was a new release.MelvinsArmy wrote: It's totally sarcastic, and I'm being serious about the matter. I priced it so that if it got a bid it would cover my costs. The BIN is a bit of an experiment. I put that at less than prior protechs had ended at to see what would happen when combined with the detailed description. It has no bids and only 6 watchers with 160 views, so I assume that it has gotten the word out to at least a few potential buyers who may have otherwise paid high prices without knowing all the facts about the 2 versions.
I personally was happy to get the new body, but a bit disspointed that they signifigantly changed the mold. This bugged me enough that I bought an old protech nip off the bay instead of using the new one. (This was after trimming up one of the new ones, I hate trimming these things, it took me almost an entire hour to get it to fit right, and I still managed to have to ovalize the front hole slightly.

Readers digest version:
I was trying to help rather than profit, but if someone with more money than patience wants to pay that BIN after reading that description I would be happy to help them with their needs

Do you use the lexan scissors from Duratrax I think? I bought a pair but have not broke them in yet. Just wondering if they really work better.aconsola wrote:.....I hate trimming these things, it took me almost an entire hour to get it to fit right....

Cool. I like the Blue. I do have the duratrax. They are the same, just not made in China like AE.aconsola wrote:Only genuine AE factory team scissors hereTadracket wrote:Do you use the lexan scissors from Duratrax I think?
