Re: Optima Mid dirt oval build
I have a question about motors and gearing now. What wind/turn motor would be used with what gearing when the waffle tires were run? I'd like to have some idea so that I make be on the lookout for when something pops up on eBay.

Once again, its regional and track dependant. But waffles were generally used on slick and slower tracks, so for me it would be something in the 13-17 turn range. Twister, Revtech, Eastcoast and Trinity were popular in Oval as well-

13-17 turn doubles? Does a 30T pinion and 108T spur gear sound right to you as thats what it came with. Thanks for answering my questions as this is my first ever dirt oval build attempt.

Re: Optima Mid dirt oval build
Everything else drivetrain wise appears to be stock. After tearing it apart, I'm glad I didn't pay too much for this one as it was driven hard and put away wet. The suspension and steering was frozen up on it, lots of stripped and broken off screws, and just more wear and tear in general than I expected. Although it paid for itself with the usable parts I was able to scavenge from it so I'm not too upset. The best part was being able to buy the JG dirt oval converted Optima Mid that nvxwax was selling which made this one a parts car.
