How to identify a motor

As some of you know, I was given a bag full of goodies and I am in the process of rebuilding an RC10 from the bag for my son. Inside the bag there were 8 motors. With the exception of one that was marked "green machine 2", all of the other ones are without logos or markings, save for a ROAR 91 marking.

Is there any way to identify what in the world I have in these motors? They all appear to work as I put a battery lead to the tabs on each.

you can tell if it's a 'stock' type motor or a modified type motor by the endbell. if the endbell appears to be screwed in to place, it's a modified motor, and can really be any number of winds.

if the endbell has two folded tabs from the motor can holding it in place, it's a stock motor and probably 27turns, possibly 25 turns for some older 'superstock' type motors.

if the endbell can be unscrewed, you can disassemble and either see if the rotor has a stamping, ink mark, or roughly count the number of turns per pole to figure out roughly what it is.

snapping some pics and posting may also hold some value, particularly with the rotor itself if the cans have no distinguishing markings.

I just looked at them. They all have the tabs holding the end together. So much for thinking I might have struck motor gold. Any idea what these things are worth?

well..i won't tell you what they are worth, I have no idea. They will be good for running and bashing around until they are spent, toss it in the used pile, and grab another one.

unless it's pristine with the labels intact, they really have no resale value. best used for entertainment.

I'm really interested to know what entertainment can be derived from stock 540-can motors. I have a few of those myself and they're not entertaining me much. What am I doing wrong?
