Futaba S148 Servo Release Date?

Post by Cpt.America »

I am just curious as to what year this servo was first released? It was recommend as the servo to use to restore an old buggy from the 80s with period correct electronics, but I see that you can still buy this servo brand new today?... same servo? different servo? Any info anybody has I would like :)

if i had to guess, somewhere around '88. it's still pretty much the same servo, except the sticker. old one on left.

Ok , thanks! So i guess my question is, for my restore buggy, would a new one work for "period correct" electronics or no?

i guess it depends on how accurate you want to be. it's still a 148. but me personally, if i were building a car/truck from '89, would i order a new one from tower? no.

Late '80's? I'm thinking early/mid '80's. When did Futaba change their logo cause like in that pic I have a few s148's with the old Futaba logo and I thought they changed it in the early to mid '80's.

Could be wrong... usually am.

S148 are probably good for gas and braking if that, too slow and weak for the steering. I would go for a S9301 at least.
