RC10 assemebly . What do you hate the most ?

Post by rctenracer »

Posted a pic of some wings in the tech section. From that there are two.
1. Bending wing wire.
2. Turnbuckles
3. And me for it is the bottom loading shocks .

pretty much I hate doing all the cleaning, of course, a NIB kit wouldn't have that problem.

for me, I hate on a fresh build:

e-clips
filling shocks with oil
figuring out I'm still missing parts and having to stop(again, not a NIB problem)

OH, and the worst part for me.....getting a body ready, all the trimming, masking and fixing screw ups.

Not specific to RC10's, but some of the things I look forward to least are:

-Gluing tires to wheels;
-Trimming the body;
-Soldering the electrics;

And of course, hitting roadblocks with parts that suddenly went missing that you swore you had beforehand!

Used cars- stripped/lost set screws.
New kits- stripped/lost set screws.
I kind of hate tiny set screws.
After that would be shocks. I love building ONE, but I hate doing ANYTHING four times in a row.

Losing parts bags in the pile of opened parts bags
Opening NIP parts ( getting over that slowly though by saving the bags and header cards )

im building my first 6 gear car at the moment and up untill now ive always liked building transmissions and diffs and getting them smooth but getting this thing anywhere near smooth enough is just pissing me off. i really dont want to start thinning gears or any bull like that but i dont think ill have a choice.

it behooves me as to how this thing can have so much resistance, its like the damn thing was set in concrete. id heard that from more then a few guys locally that raced oval back at the "wipp" and such but i thought they were exaggerating :oops:

i think ima stick to 3 gear cars after this is all over

Go over each gear carefully and remove any rough spots or imperfections. Then try backing the screws out that connect it to the motor guard just a 1/4 turn or so. That's the major cause of binding. The trans case seems to pinch the gears if too tight.

I used to fight them until I grabbed a scrap piece of wood and a punch. I no longer fear them 8)
I place it over a vise opened up just enough for the pin to clear.

All of it, which is why I don't do it. I am thinking all my associated parts would be better suited as fuel for a bonfire as opposed to being on my bench.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.
