My Newest DS Project

Post by lpddpd »

I've been thinking about doing this project for a while now, finally got around to putting it together. I don't do build threads (I don't know how you guys can stop what you're doing to take a picture and then remember later on what was going on as you upload it :x ). I can tell you I had to get creative with the body mounts as the Mercedes body was drilled for the normal chassis. Easily solved with a brand new body but I still wanted to use this one.

I've had a fair amount of luck finding parts for dirt cheap while buying blind lots on ebay lately, most of the hardware from Tower, and the rest I just happen to have in bags not doing anything. Hope you like :) .

Nice car. I am working on a couple of DS's but nothing as modified as this, mostly restores right now. I would like to get creative with one though and throw some brushless power to it.

I would really like to find one of the DTM Mercedes bodys - anyone have a line on one of those????

I've got a couple of Mustang bodies - one that is painted but never run if I remember correctly but there's nothin' like the Mercedes....

Thanks for the comments everyone. I agree, I think the Mercedes body was the best looking one made for the DS. My favorite body is on my other DS here:http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=16375. I'm wondering if Frewer is still around? Certainly not in the US and the website doesn't offer much info. Does anyone know?

I've got on of those around somewhere. Don't forget about the Olds Aurora from Protoform. I liked it, here's the real one it was modeled after:

Nice build, never even seen that chassis before. and the trans is just crazy. I still have much to learn.
