Getting rid of bump-steer on YR-4?

Post by EvolutionRevolution »

So I am in the process of rebuilding an YR-4 II (using a FRP version as the base, adding a some somewhat strange carbon chassis conversion from a junker), and if I build the steering links as indicated in the manual the car has horrible bump-steer, like 5-10 degrees toe-in gain when the suspension is compressed  .

Anyone know how I can get rid of that? I can't change the height of the steering bellcranks, the only thing I can change is the steering links and ballstuds.

Try adjusting the height of the ball on the knuckles until the bump steer disappears. When you have dialed it out use some spacers on the ball to 'fill in' the gap.

I must say that on the Yokomo buggies I have never experienced bump steer.

Can you put a picture of your current setup: showing where your top links attach to the tower, and the steering links on the knukles and steering?
My YR-4 doesn't suffer bumpsteer at all... as far as I remember

Nevermind. I made an assembly error, which is why I shouldn't assemble cars late at night.
