My RC10, or parents do the darndest things...

Post by iamogre »

Lets rewind for a second back to the glorious early 90's. I was racing in the local scene in Ga. Places like, Silverwings, Sugar bowl, PDQ, Dalton and even a couple times at Phil Hurd in Savannah. I was mainly a Losi guy, and raced a XX and XX-T.

I bought a RC10 worlds car when they first came out and tried it out for size. This lasted about three weeks and it just didn't work for me. So I sold it to a local racer.
Then I bought a RC10 Team car and tried again.

Over the years my old RC equipment has been scattered, even though I kept up with a few things. My toolbox, a couple of boxes of parts and my KO radio.
Fast forward to today. I have been playing around with RC again with a blitz and a sc10. Its still fun.

Thanks to you guys and this forum I have been looking (and still looking) for a great condition XX and possibly a XX-T to replicate my old cars.
But sometime there is a suprise when you least expect it...

This last July 4th holiday I was at my parents house and my brother mentioned that I had some junk in his old room that had been hidden back in his closet.
Laying in the floor was this along with my Hyperdrive oval car and Victor Eng IQ charger.
My Mom had kept this for around 15 years after I let my brother play with it. (sorry for the low quality cell pics)

So I have cleaned it up a little and I'm trying to peroxide the white parts to get it to runner status. I've plenty of old 27t stock motors and tekin rec. Now I just have to find a Tekin esc and body to take it out to the track again.

Any tips to possibly get the tub looking a little better?
More pics to come as I get it back together.

What do you guys think?

You could always re anodize the tub, but the easiest thing to do would be to get a lexan undertray and hide it- looks like a great runner!! Welcome to 10talk!!

I wreck my parent's house looking for stuff like that. All I ever find is old porn and stashes of napkins... :? But hey, not everyone can be as lucky as me!

Kidding. That will make a nice resto.

Yeah, this one is not worth the effort of re-anodizing. Since its going to be a runner, I was thinking I might knock down the largest scratches and paint the bottom with epoxy paint.

Next thread I will post up pics of the worlds car I found on craigslist....

BTW, is there a secret to the peroxide trick? My parts have been soaking for a few days and not much improvement.

They need to soak AND be exposed to UV light. Put them outside in the sun. Good luck, and congrtas on the World's finds. I had a similar experience, was always Losi, but then bought a World's Car when they were new. I liked it, and thought handled well, but didnlt like it as much as my XX. I had 3 or 4 XX/XXcrs over my main racing years. Was by far the most successful chassis for me..
