Re: Vintage TCP mint condition!
Nice TCP. Welcome to the board also. For some reason even the Traxxas "race" cars don't get as much attention as they deserve. Theres a few here w/ nice TRX1s, and a few of the others. The first race car that I had race success with was an LS2. It was a good truck.
As for the body, I think there is a guy in the UK that does repros of the trx3/tcp body. He's on the board as CobraKen - I think.
You'd have to contact a moderator about a name change.

Nice lookin tcp. One of my favorite buggys. Looks good with black parts on it. Need to clean up one of mine and do it in black. As far as bodies go there is a guy on this board that is from the UK(?) doing repro bodies for the trx3/tcp that has an undertray/body/wing that goes by CobraKen like losixxxman said. Try searching thru this traxxas section for one of his threads and you can pm him from there.
Nice to see some fresh traxxas vintage guys in here and welcome to the forum.

Re: Vintage TCP mint condition!
I have one of these too: came with a badly painted and ugly old body. So, now it wears a recovered kyosho triumph body (repros available from tbg on ebay):

but before that I mocked it up with this Tamiya body:

Here the desert gator is shown on an ultima, but it fits the tcp equally well with just alittle shaving of the lower chassis right in front of the rear wheels.
A sand viper should work well too: here's synergy 's example , again on an ultima:

This academy griffin body fits well also but is not easy to find:

Re: Vintage TCP mint condition!
Looks like Mr. Ed gave you a few non-repro ideas... that equals less $$. ANother one along that line to try may be a B3 body....

Re: Vintage TCP mint condition!
Thats Joey. His orange one is the linked topic I provided, and the body is a RCPS Turbo Mirage. You can pixk up repros form Mr. Lexan or teambluegroove on ebay. You decide where to get it. Mr Lexan is available on the board, TBG, not here much....if at all... Ebay for him.

Re: Vintage TCP mint condition!
That was something for an RC10. I think you could fit lots of bodies to this chassis without major difficulties: fairly common geometry and dimansions, not too many limiting factors imposed by the chassis either.
I'd save on shipping expense and check the racks at your hobbyshop for something which fits.
Duratrax evader bx for example should work too

Re: Vintage TCP mint condition!
Cool paint job! I noticed you have a lot of black parts on your TRX-3. Did you dye them black or did they come that way?
Re: Vintage TCP mint condition!
That was my favorite paint scheme, it came out okay.
As for the parts, I can't remember back that far. I could have dyed the white stuff or bought upgrades at the track hobby shop ? Traxxas was local and I picked up alot of stuff there too. Had a Nitro Hawk I fought with and an LS-II, but this one will die with me.

Re: Traxxas TCP gets a makeover.
For a while I have wanted to restore my TCP and also give it a unique look. Here is what I have so far….
-Lower black chassis.
-Upper deck part #2628-X.
-Dark grey big bore shocks front & rear.
-Black metric hex hardware used throughout chassis.
-Black powder coated front aluminum shock tower.
-Black powder coated rear motor plate.
-Black powder coated MIP drive axles.
Need to acquire,
-MIP black outdrive cups.
-Lunsford turnbuckles.
-Four white springs.
This is the dyed black chassis as well as the upper deck part #2628-X. Unfortunately there are still white spots in the chassis from the first dye job, so I will have to dye it again A picture of the transmission that was replaced with black metric hex hardware. The following eight pictures are the black powder coated shock tower, powder coated motor mount, powder coated axles and new big bore shocks. I think I am going to eventually use four white springs. I have an extra black shock tower. PM if interested.
