cheat: prepare a display pack. It's not like you're going to use the battery to power anything.
heat and solder the ends of the 1" braid sections on a hard flat surface so they look like they have been soldered onto a battery. Allow to fully cool. then assemble with a thin film of silicone sealant between the back of the braid and the battery terminal. It should make a nice simulated pack for a shelfer and silicone can be easily removed from the cells if you change your mind.

THAT is a decent idea... I've had perfectly good bodies ruined on shelf queens from pack "vapor" mold, crud, asbestos, plutonium, or whatever comes off those things when they store for 15-30 years...

Although I've never done it, I've contemplated a clear coat of paint on the braid and battery sides where soldered. Keep out the air, keep off the crud.

I went through a bunch of packs just now, found a few that looked neat, and shot a pic.

I was amazed at how many bars I found on them. I also found bars on 1200's and 1400's. That surprised me a bit. I recall thinking, looking back, that we thought braid passed more current than a bar. I have no idea, and don't particularly care to debate it now. but I thought it was interesting to see.

I remember running P-170 packs in the late 80's. They could only be used once a week like SCE's. Look really nice with a shelf queen though..
