RC10 Tranny Help?
RC10 Tranny Help?
Ok, so I've been having trouble finding a direct answer to my question so please forgive me if this has already been posted. I have recently been given a gold pan RC10. I'm not sure if its an A stamp or how to tell since there is no stamp at all but I'm pretty sure it used a 6 gear tranny. I have just about everything I need to restore it to perfect operation except dog bones, turnbuckles and a trannsmission. I have been searching the internet for a while now looking for a good 6 gear tranny but have only been able to find 1 complete for 80 bones. I'm noticing that the stealth trannys go for alot cheaper and are easier to find, plus are more reliable from many different accounts. My question is how do I mod my RC10 to fit the stealth tranny? Is it as simple as drilling a few holes or are there other mod factors I have to take into account. Also are the stealth trannys on the RC10T's the same as the same as the stealths on the later RC10 buggies? Please help me restore this golden oldie! Thanx- Mitch

Re: RC10 Tranny Help?
Associated sells a metal plate that you bolt to your current chassis and you drill some holes. You will also need to countersink the holes, but it's a pretty easy task will a drill press. You should be able to find one used, or get one from someone on this site. I found a new one on E-Bay http://cgi.ebay.com/Team-Associated-RC10-Mounting-Hole-Drill-Guide-6590-AE-/230629972959?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b29e1bdf

Re: RC10 Tranny Help?
There was a full size template that you could print out here on the site somewhere, can't remember where though. Try a search.
