Re: Mr. Mike Reedy passed away.
I first met Mike Reedy in 1978 and even then he was a legend on the R/C scene with his modified motors. But Mike was a lot more than just the most successful motor builder ever. He was instrumental in growing R/C into an international sport by being constantly involved as a forward-thinking leader during his term as IFMAR President.
Behind the scenes Mike was a key to Team Associated's long run as one of the top racing teams. Mike was always on the look-out for talented upcoming racers to sponsor, many of whom went on to be World Champions. And while it was a rare sight due his heavy work load helping team drivers, Mike would occasionally pick up a transmitter and enter the race as a driver. And let me tell you, a crowd would always line the track to see if he could handle the fastest motor you've ever seen.
Mike had the nicest and friendliest personality you'll ever meet. Always there for you if you needed help. Always looking for ways to make a faster motor. Always looking forward to the next event and chatting with all of the drivers. And he was a pillar of integrity, proving that a nice guy can finish first.
So RIP Mike, you had a great life, a successful career, and you left an everlasting impression on the R/C industry and the lives of countless R/C drivers.

As Many people have already said, an RC legend and a true gentleman.
I met him in I think 1992 at the 1/10 off road British Grand Prix at the NEC. A totally unasuming Guy and a pleasure to talk too.

So sorry to hear this! He was indeed a great person! I had the privilege of meeting him, what a nice man! I do think he was suffering health wise though, never an easy thing!
RIP Mike! We will keep honoring your name by using Reedy products for as long as we live!

Re: Mr. Mike Reedy passed away.
Mike was obviously one of my heros and it was my honor and my privilege to get to know him personally when I started working for RC Driver. My picture with him is one of the proudest ones I have and my memories of him are very fond. Mike's love for R/C extended immensely beyond motors. I remember one night we were going out for dinner and he saw a handicap ramp and said something to the effect of "this would make a great jump". R/C was everything to him and all he ever thought about and I admired his passion for it. He was a legend among his peers and in my opinion one of the true founding fathers of our hobby and sport. My heart hangs very low today and even though it's been years since we spoke, I'll miss him dearly.

I had heard that he was in the hospital a few weeks ago, but it is very sad news for both giants in the RC community.
Godspeed to both Mr Reedy and Mr Picco.

Re: Mr. Mike Reedy passed away.
Very sad news today.
I never had the privilige of knowing the man personaly but have followed him through footage Ive seen and his career via ink in magazines. It was easy to see this was a man driven by passion.
RIP to one of the greatest men that built this industry to the standard it is.
Thank you Mike for all your work. You will be missed by all.
